So when God gave my great grandmother diabetes and she had to have her leg amputated it was because she didn't really need to be walking at her age, right?

Or was that the work of the devil?

It's not God, it's not "the devil" - these are characters used to explain life in symbolic terms. We all have to go sometime - to know life is to know death.

Sorry about your grandmum :\

God allowed your Great Grandma to reach that point because of either the choices she made throughout her life, or choices that were made generations ago that have become genetically predisposed. Some people are simply born into a situation (like diabetes or worse) that there is no reason for it. That does not mean that the person cannot use their ailment and still be a blessing to other people for the short time they are with us. It really wasn't about your G. Grandma "needing to be walking at her age." But we all do decline in health naturally as we age. Be greatful God gave her to you in your life for you to know her...for her to touch your heart and life.
The Devil can only do what God allows. Other things like Diabetes just may be the way God wants her to slip from this world and into Heaven. Believe me, there are a lot worse ways to pass on.
Keep in mind also..it was "man's" medicine that brought about the amputation. Hopefully one day our medicine and science will come to a point where amputations aren't as easily prescribed...and maybe even less necessary.
I hope this helped.

No, no, no!!! Work of the devil?!, what could your grandmother possibly have done to deserve that? Nothing! There's a lesson involved here. We are put on this earth to have experiences, relationships & learn to love. Somehow, in some way that humans could not possibly begin to phathom, for your grandma, losing her leg was part of a lesson. These lessons are necessary and learned through hardship, suffering & pain. Perhaps she needed to learn to accept love from others, through the experience of being sick & depending on others for basic care. Some people are great at giving love & caring for others, but find it difficult when the tables turn & they must be cared for. Sounds more likely than the work of some evil spirit, dosen't it?

Remember the bible records in John 10:10
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I < Christ > have come that they may have life, and have it to the full... so that was definitely the work of the devil .. if there was a divine involvement . .. it certainly will be a different story.. more so .. God works in a MYSTERIOUS WAY..

Isaiah 55:9
"As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts says the Lord

questions involving the death of a family member or some serious injury such as this are always hard to answer but I can say that these things are allowed to happen to test the person it happens to and the people around them. They happen so that god can see if your faith really stands with him or if when dilemma strikes if you will turn from him. My aunt died about six years ago and it is interesting to see what family members turned from god and hardened there harts and who rejoiced for she may have gone to a better place

If you want to attribute it to the devil, in a way it is indirectly. Disease comes from sin, sin comes from temptation into evil, and evil comes from the devil. God does give us what we need, but that is only if we fully rely on Him for our daily needs. Illness and everything else doesn't matter as long as you are taken care of.

God gives us things we need and sometimes the things we want. when we have "trials" in our life and bad things happen, it's God allowing them to happen to either prove out faith strong to those around us, or to bring us back to Him. We may never know what exactly God's plan is/was in certain areas of our life while we are here but the way we handle the adversity that is given to us will be known in heaven. if we handle it by glorifying God in the situation and staying true to Him and our faith the byproducts of other peoples faith growing and coming to know Christ may never been seen on earth but we will see it in Heaven one day. God does allow Satan to attack us, but God is always in control and he never allows more than what we can handle with Him!

According to Jesus, WHATEVER you ask for in prayer, you will receive. I suggest getting a bunch of Christians to pray for your grandmother's leg to grow back and her diabetes to disappear. Obviously, God is testing CHRISTIANS, to see if they have the faith of a mustard seed by praying over your Grandma's leg. If it doesn't grow back, it's because they lack faith and they'll be sent to hell.

you're throwing this scripture out of context.
things in our lives happen for a reason. good & bad.
so then that also means that we all make our own choices in life too. if we continue eating the wrong foods, junk, sweets, desserts etc...that's our own fault. sometimes , i mean most of the time a lot of our sicknesses, infirmaties are hereditary.
we need to take care of our own bodies as well.
god doesn't punish us w/sicknesses.
you're looking at god as punishing your grandma, which is totally wrong.
things in life happen for whatever reason, only god knows why. he doesn't wish anything bad on us. but we also as humans, individuals need to take responsibility for our own actions & not find someone, especially god to blame.

Don't you get it by now?
Even though christians claim that god created all, he only get's credit for curing someone of cancer. The cancer was put there by demons.
Isn't that cute? They blame a fictional character for the disease, and then praise another fictional character for the cure. They're so very adorable at this stage of development. It's a shame we allow them to vote though...

i do not know if you grandmother is a christian or not, because that is extremely important. anything that happens in this world happens to the glory of God. If it was satan, it was given permission by God and never left his control. trust God, he controls the universe, he can guide our lives whether we ever see it or not.
