You should get a bermise cat, they are expensive but if you are allergic you will be fine around them, my employer has bad allergies to cats and he has 2 and is fine...............my gf is allergic too and when she comes over she is fine and the cat sleeps with us and everything.

I've heard that those bald Egyptian cats don't generally cause an allergic reaction.

I thought that there were some scientists trying to breed or genetically engineer a cat that wouldn't cause an allergic reaction. I'm allergic to cats as well. I could do without most of them but I've met a couple of cool ones.

I found a recent article about supposedly dander free cats.

I don't think it really matters. I have 2 cats, but what my mom did, (because they shed a lot and used to have a lot of dander) we bought a special cat comb from Pet Smart, and a lint roller, usually from Wal-Mart that come in 6-packs. We brush and roll our cats every day for about 5-10 minutes every morning. It really helps with the shedding and the dander. It will really help your allergies too, and it's good for the cat's skin. Good luck!

accept as true with the solutions above. i'd say in case you extremely extremely want a cat, take allergy meds, get a youthful short-haired kitty from the pound, and bathe it once a week with kitty shampoo. Washing a cat is exertions, notwithstanding it extremely cuts down on the dander which facilitates you breathe so a lot extra efficient! you would possibly want to also be vigilant about washing your blankets, because it is going to sleep with you no matter if you wish it or no longer. i'm allergic, yet i have lived with cats my total existence. this stuff works incredibly properly.

a short hair cat defenatly, but mainly when you are allergic to cats you are allergic to there saliva. so you need to stay away from kittens (who have just been weened off there mother) and cats who tend to lick themselfs a lot. if you adopt from the humane society or the other adoption centers, they can nomally tell you all about the certain cats behavior and licking habits.

Siamese have low dander for allergies. My husband is allergic to cats but he is fine with our siamese. He loves to smell her....weird.

None are good if you are definitely allergic, but all short haired cats will be best.

If you are allergic, then you probably shouldn't have one for a pet. However, I think if you shaved it bald, then you wouldn't have the dander problem.
