The reason I am asking is because we have a lot of marriages but there is no other wedding planner around. The only thing I am skeptical of is that maybe the bride doesn't want help to plan it, they might want to do it themselves. I know I did. I just want to know if I decided to go for it would anybody be interested.

Good for you, thinking about starting your own business. I do agree though look into it before you place your $$$ into it. I don't live in your area so I don't know how things are there but here well I thought of it myself. I am planning a wedding of my own for October and there was not one person or business that I thought treated me as a bride the way that I should be treated. And I was looking for the help. There is no place that can help with every arrangement. Keep in mind if you do do this that you need to be able to cater to everyone and their budget. Good luck to you!!

If I may, I would suggest this is probably NOT the place to get information upon which to base a business decision. You might want to go to city hall and find out how many marriage licenses are issued per year over the last 5 years - that will give you an idea of how many people get married in your county. You might also want to review the archives of your local newspaper to determine how many weddings are announced on a yearly basis - that will give you a ballpark idea of how many celebrations of the nature in which you would be interested take place. But the ultimate question - of having a wedding planner - that's a whole 'nother question - you might want to look at offering a supplementary service - casting yourself as a wedding assistant - so that you can be there at Bridezilla's side to effect all her decisions and fulfill her wildest dreams.

I don't live in that area, so I dont know about the people there, but I would find a wedding planner to be a waste of time and money. Bridezilla's get wedding planners because they want it to be PERFECT! I'm not like that. I wanted a fun, layed back wedding. I also know a lot more people are having smaller weddinds or eloping now then ever. I'd really look into it.

I do not live in that area but I think if you have all the right connections then go for it. Another recommendation would be to look in the yellowpages to see how many people already have this type of business. I know in my area there are A LOT and breaking into it is very hard since there are so many. You have to have a very strong network of vendors to make sure that you can make some money doing it.
