I am sorry to hear that, but I can ask the same question of why do women betray men, or better yet, why do people betray people.
I am sure at this moment you are very hurt, and probably confused because he left with no explanation. I ask you though not to group all men into the same category as this guy. Not all men betray, just as not all women betray. It is a personal flaw not a societal one.
Be strong, move on and realize everything you have to offer a man who really wants to be with you, enjoy you, and love you for who you are. You ex may have problems of his own that he either will not admit to or does not recognize. You have to take the situation into your own hands though and realize that all is not lost and that someone out there will want to love you forever.

I don't think that i like the generalization you used by stating "why do men betray women." Maybe the question should have been "why do people betray one another?"
There are an endless amount of reasons why one person would betray another or leave another (betray is such a generalized word and could mean diffrent things to diffrent people). You say that your boyfriend of three years left you. Well, nobody can give you a realistic answer without knowing what went on during those 3 years on both sides of the equation. He could have feelings for someone else. He might have been unfaithful. You might have done someting to spark it. There are so many possibilities that i suggest that you call him and ask to talk about it on neutral grounds (i.e some place that you both feel comefortable) and try to figure out what went wrong. Many people leave relationships simply because it is getting to serious. I've seen many couples come into my office and simply give up on each other without asking the simple questions. I recomend talking over the phone first. People are more open over the phone because in their mind they aren't talking directly to that person and they are more likely to be open. If this relationship means that much to you, then talk. The results might not be ideal, but you will have the satisfaction of having an answer.

Some men betray women because they are idiots. There ain't no way a real man would leave a woman without an explanation . He's a real jerk for not explaining things to you.

People are basically rotten. Men, women it does not matter. I know I sound cynical, but look around the world at all the evil things humans do. Also, look at the questions here. A good percent are about cheating and back stabbing. You are lucky if you find one, or two good, true friends. You are even luckier, if one of those is your mate.

Women betray men as well...it's not a gender thing. It's more of a personality thing. If a persons an ****** then they are an ****** man or woman. Sorry for your pain...your better off without the mf in the long run.

The reason some of us betray women is out of selfish insecurities, fear of commitment, and a blaitent lack of self control. We men are simple, to try to find a deeper meaning than that would prove fruitless. Hope that helps.

Sometimes people betray people. It is not a "man" thing. I was betrayed by my wife of 15 years.

simple....many people hang onto a relationship that is long dead... so, it seems like they left just out of the blue, when in fact they had left long ago, only now its physically leaving... Surely, you must have had some incling that this relationship was headed for the rocks.... little bells going off in your head that you ignored because you loved him....we've all been there until we learn to listen to those warning signs

that's because he every wanted to do that but wasn't man enough top if he comes running back don't take him back he needs to find him self some men don't care and they hurt women to make them slef feel better
