,y son will be 5 months old, july 3ed and you can already tell he is strong willed...everybody tells me that...he is not afraidd of anything...does that mean he will be a terror in his toddler years and beyond? or is it depending on how i raise him, not going to let him get away with much?

my daughter is very strong willed and stubborn as well. she was as an infant too. You must be stronger. Be consistant with him and don't give him an inch or he'll take the mile. It may seem like you're being mean to him all the time but once he gets over the testing stage it'll have been worth it.

The way you raise and discipline will have a LOT to do with it. One thing that I found a wonderful help.... baby sign. And it's usually a good idea to start by around 6 months old. One of the biggest problems in the terrible 2's is that fact that the child knows what they want, but don't have the vocal cords to tell you. My older children did much more screaming and grunting to get their point across. My two youngest (that I used signing with) never when through this stage at all. Now, you don't have to be and expert, I only ever had about 12 signs that I used with mine: more, all done, please, thank you, food, drink, milk, water...I think there were a few more, but these are some of the great basics to start with.

just relax, he's still a baby. Just do the best u can as a mother, teach him the right things n leave the rest to God. But i dont see anything wrong with him being strong-willed. I think its good esp. in the world today 2 be able to stand firm about ur beliefs.

My niece is aggressive. bossy and strong willed as well. I read in a study that agressive children will grow up to be more successful than their passive counterparts.
As long as you control come of his behovior if it is damaging to others, he will be fine. Let his personality develop the way he wills it too (sorry for the humor). He can be strong willed but also be taught right from wrong. You can not change a childs personality but you can teach them to do the right thing.

Your child is a reflection of you. Just because a kid is fearless does not mean that child can get away with murder. A firm set of principles & rules will go a long way to raising a kind, sweet, generous, courteous - if a bit wild - child.

it depends how u raise him. he can be strong willed as long as u know that u r the boss and he should listen to him. don't let him get away with stuff when u don't agree with it even if he is the cutest boy in the world.
good luck

my daughter is 5 mos and I work from home, so I am with her all day. She too is strong willed. I was told to start breaking habits of picking her up every time she cries. She needs to learn to work it out on her own if the reason is just wanting to be held or entertained. Its tough to do, I just hate seeing her get all worked up.

my son started showing signs of a power stuggle with me when he was about one year. i was just persistent with disciplining his inappropriate behavior EVEN WHEN IT WAS HARD not to give in... some people think a little bad behavior is cute, like mouthing off to a parent... BUT LET ME SAY, it's not cute at all when they are disrespectful teenagers. my son is now nearly 17... he was diagnosed as A.D.D (attention deficit disorder) when he was 10, but all of the signs were there earlier... i just didn't recognize them, he is my firstborn. ON OCCASSION he still tries to tell me off... but i continue with the same TIME OUT as when he was little and he turns around quickly! PERSISTENCE COUNTS... but read up on A.D.D. just in CASE...

I have two daugthers and one is strong willed. She can sometimes be a challenge but just remember to be ferm with your son and do not give in to his wants once you tell him to do something or tell him no.

Kids are always terrible in their toddler years, but that depends on you also, discipline.
