First check with your vet. If there are raw spots or sores they will need medication. Search the web. I have found that dog's PH balances are different than ours and that can cause itching. Some people use Apple Cider Vinegar to help correct the PH problem. I use it diluted (by half) in water as a rinse after I wash my dog. I have heard that others have also given it to dogs in their food - research that - I have never tried it.
Good Luck!

You want to get things easy and effective....just bring him to the vet......
Not all dogs got the same reason for this matter.
It might be something else......since this is the first time that your dog is experiencing this scratching thing, its better to identify throughly regarding the problem.
This might help you to solve it easily if it occurs the next time......
Good Luck!!!

If he is not on any other meds at the moment, you can give him Benadryl short term. Here's a website with the dosage for dogs by weight.
http://animalsunlimited.net/meds.htm
If he is still on vet meds, then check with the vet to make sure that Benadryl is OK to give.

Hi!
Please take your dog to the vet. It sounds as if he /she needs another vet. Your doggie should have some ointment that will stop the itching. The name of the ointment is Dermalone.

you can prevent your dog from scratching himself by putting something big around his neck, like you can put one of those dog shades around his neck.or you can just take a lamp shade and put that around his neck.
