parents may be annoying..but the fact is they have been through nearly 90% of what we go though. May not have been in the same exact way..but in some way or the other.
There is more to a cell phone than just getting it and using it.
Are you paying the bill for the cell phone? Whether they pay for it, or you pay for it...its an added bill. And depending on what type of budget you or your parents have..paying a cell phone bill will mean that you have to think about what the money for that bill is taking away from.
You also have to think about which provider you are getting and whats best for your specific needs. I've had Sprint, Alltell, and now Verizon. Some cell phone companies tell you "$39.99 a month" but when you add fees and taxes..its about $65.
For ex, I have a 450 minute plan..but if i got past that its .45 cent a minute. which doesnt seem like a lot..but 10 minutes and thats $4.50 and it goes up quick. because on a cell phone if u talk 1 minute and 2 seconds..thats considered 2 minutes. if you call someone and get voicemail...thats a minute. So they pile up fast.
If your bill is not paid...it can go on your credit and hinder you from possibly getting things in the future..like a car, a house, or and apartment..because the companies check your credit history to see how you made payments.
So getting a cell phone is not as simple as it may seem. There are things to think about and consider, but once they are considered your parents should be willing to work out a deal with you and let you know whats best based on whats provided. Just do your research and provide a good argument to your parents.
That alone will let them know you are serious and responsible enough for a cell phone.
Good Luck.

If u have a pet u will understand it better why parents are so over protective about their children????????
When your pet tries some thing new, for example, goes out of the house by itself, how worried do u get and when u find it how much u lecture it. Why do u do it, because u love your pet.
Similarly parents do it because they love us more than they love anything in this world. Because u r part of them. Forget about other reasons like money or ego. It is just just because they love u so much. And they say "LOVE IS BLIND" that is why they go the extra mile while loving us and it seems to us that they are becoming over protective.

Did you ever stop and think that a cell phone could hurt you? What about if you are talking on it and piss someone off. They could come and kick your a*s. What about if you are driving, not paying attention cause you are on your cell phone? What would it do to your studies? Whos gonna pay the bill for all your calls? use your head!

Because you're a Kidd and you don't know what's right for you. Trust me you'll understand later what I'm talking about. Stop rushing to grow up, because when your grown. it's no going back.
Just be a Kidd, don't worry about a cell phone because everyone else has one.

Do you have a job and will you pay for the bill? Ask them to get you a pre-paid phone (tracfone from Wal Mart) that way they can track your usage. These phones are only $40.

Because they want to keep you safe. And also protect their wallets! They would be paying the bill and if you go over your minutes, they pay that. Also, you may give out your number to people that are less than trustworthy.

It costs money; and God knows you are going to spend a lot of time on your phone talking. So you are going to use minutes and send text messages and probably IM each other, all of which costs money, probably that mom and dad don't have.
