Good question. But you said that people who name their kids with Bible names are "self-righteous". If Hispanics name their children Jesus, does that make them more self-righteous since they already name their kids Rueben, Mateo, Markos, Pedro, Maria y Marta? Does that mean that people who like the name Matthew or Mark, just because the way it sounds are self-righteous too?
One possible reason why some people don't name their kids "Jesus" is because they believe He was more than a mere man. And out of reverence they won't name their kid "Jesus". It would be like naming your kid "God". For what it's worth.
Unfortunately, I know what you mean about "self-righteous" behavior. It's obnoxious. But, since you labeled certain people as "self-righteous", does that make you more "righteous" than they are? Think about it.
And, by the way, people who have had a genuine encounter with God are not "self-righteous." Rather, they are humbled. They are humbled at the realization that God IS holy and righteous. And yet He goes to such great lengths to communicate His love to such an apathetic and spiteful world of which we are all a part.

Becasue they wanted too, but there are a lot of common names in the bible that many people have, such as Matthew and John, those are pretty common boy names. Just because the name is in the bible doesn't not mean, someone took it from there to name their child.

"Jesus" is the greek for Joshua. So, there are A LOT of non hispanic's with the name. And who says they are being self-rightious? Those names are just a beautiful galic names. What's your problem?

Jesus in spanish is different than it is in english. Jesus in spanish is pronounced something like "Hay-sus". Sorry, not good with the translation thing, but you get the drift. In Israel at the time of His life, Jesus basically meant Joshua. There's a lot of Joshua's running around.

maybe its just out of respect that there was only one Jesus and no other like him its just the way that us human beings view things in different perspectives some people may view naming their child Jesus as being arrogant to God ..its just a concept
