What is the best way to keep a healthy RETINA after you suffered a dettachment?

I had a tear in the retina of my left eye 20 years ago. I had laser surgery to "spot weld" the area around the tear to keep it from spreading. I have had no further retinal problems.

Probably not much except take Vitamin A and use good sun glasses. I had one 10 years ago after cataract surgery and nothing has changed that much since then.
