About 2,000 years ago there was a persecuter of Christians who stoned Christians and received a conversion and became one of the most powerful Christian ministers. His name was Saul, but after his conversion, he became the Apostle named Paul.
Your husband is truly blessed to have a wife that will support his decisions. If he does become a minister, that will be a great quality in a minister's wife.
My Dad was a WWII veteran who went to Bible Institute after WWII and became an ordained minister.
God forgives all faults and while he is doing this out of duty, God knows his heart and will bless him. God also can work on the lives of the people your husband might minister to.
While some may not accept this, most others will, especially if your husband is a man of integrity.
I'd suggest seeking God's will for both of your lives. If this is God's perfect (instead of permissive) will He will work this out for your husband to be in a powerful ministry. Whether it is as a preacher or just in a ministry, God will make the path known.

If I was in his congregation I would respect your husband as a man and a pastor. I think it is admirable that he has a calling to preach and he will be a better pastor because he has seen "something other pastors may not have seen or heard or know about". Marines are religious too. Possibly he could councel the troops of Iraq and help them reajust to society when they return. Best of luck to him!

YES!! I was in the marines for 8 years and am now working on a Ministry degree. To be honest, God has done a major work in my life, beginning while I was still in. It culminated a few years ago with me answering the call to ministry. I have no doubt, since you stated you are both Christians, that he will be able to make such a transition ESPECIALLY if it is God's will for his life.
I have found that when I do talk about my past, the congregation I am involved with will open up to me more knowing some of the things I have been through. My experiences are more of a help than a hindrance! God prepares us throughout our lives for His purpose, it is possible that the experiences your husband has will directly enable him to do whatever he is called to!
Please feel free to e-mail me. I would love to talk to your husband and yourself more about the wonderful thing God is doing in your lives.

Most certainly.
Loyalty, truthfulness, honor, compassion - being a Marine certainly embraces those traits. It's not the first thing people look at, though. Think about what being a Marine - aside from killing alone - most assuredly entails.
Furthermore, the things he's seen and experienced will better enable him to do a great job, I believe.
I believe he'll do an excellent job.

of course i have a pastor that was in Vietnam, and he is the coolest ,he would tell us about what happened ,you see people look up to the soldiers and i believe if a soldier can become a pastor then maby it could bring a lot more people to god.and who ever disagrees is just insane .my old church was dull the pastor was a total snob, and he was so boring and confusing.so i quit going to church ,until my sister in law made me go to a different one ,i saw the pastor and thought "no way I'm i coming back again" i sat down and the pastor grabs the microphone and yells out "hallelujah " and he starts singing ,and stuff, then he starts reading the bible BORING but then i guess he got carried away with what went on about the Vietnam ,i kid u not i was on the edge of my seat listening to every word.people love to hear about other people especially military and he would have a lot of believers if he could relate things to real life.but he would be teaching them about god also.

Sure, being a hypocrite is exactly what being a christian is all about after all.
So he'd be perfect. And with that kind of story, it will make it so much easier to fleece the flock too. If they're afraid that the con-man at the pulpit will kill them for not paying enough, imagine what they'll fork out!
Start shopping for a new cadillac!

He is a marine defending the United States for it's freedom. I think that Marines with a focus on God as your husband is, gain God's favour. He is doing his duty, and I think that pretty much anyone can respect a marine. Good for him. Tell him that a stranger tells him thank you for giving up everything he has so that my family and I can be safe and enjoy our freedom.

Why not? I'm sure GOD can use your husband. It might be a big change but GOD will help him with it. Look at Moses. He was brought up by pharaoh as a child . Yet GOD used him to led the Israel's to the promised land. Now that's a big change but GOD was with him every step of the way. So why not your husband? I'm sure GOD will be with your husband every step of the way

Definately, I think he could be a great pastor. Remeber that Reggie White made the transition from QB hitting D line to a Minister. If he can do it, I'm sure your husband can do it as well.

Yes, it is very possible. God can work miracles in any heart and previous military service is not an issue. If God is calling your husband to His ministry, then he must answer. Just let God work through both of you in His own way. God be with you!
