In the early afternoon, watch 29 his favourite movies at home and then have sex for 29 times ,that will be dinner time already, book a restaurant close to the beach, after 29 courses of food ( small portion each),29 dances,a birthday cake with 29 candles,( that's eventually ) .Take him down to the beach ,hold each other in a circle which surrounding by 29 romantic candles,,having 29 bottles of wine ,say love word for 29 times and planning for another 29 years birthday Sunday.
If you are generous enough, pick up 29 your most beautiful girl friends for him to have fun but make sure not more than 29 seconds.

For my husbands last birthday, I called his parents, brother and my parents to see if they would go in and get something with me. I went out and found a new grill for him. It was $269+tax and all the family gave me $300, so it really wasn't a lot out of my pocket.

When the kids are in bed, have a romantic dinner either on the floor, dining room or outside. Then do "things" that he likes sexually. Run a bath and you bathe him, dry him and then give him a romantic massage. Make a LOVE coupon book. Give him "free" favors. I always tell my husband that I want things like that. They don't cost him anything but time and it shows that he is thinking of me.

Next, you could plan a party with just his friends. Have everyone bring something and you the kids out for a while so he can be a man with his friends for a while. Then at night, do what I said at the top. I hope that helps you some. Its hard to do things for people when you don't have money to do what you would like.

When my daughter was turning 18, I had the same problem - little money and wanted to do something different. Since she was too old for a "party" with the relatives etc. I decided to do a "treasure hunt". I bought 19 small gifts - many under $2.00, some larger - and hid them all over the house and yard. On each gift I put a clue as to where the next gift was. It took her almost two hours to find all the items. She decided it was one of the best birthdays ever. This could work for any age. With your young ones they could get in on the fun. Not only is it creative - but it shows you are thinking about your spouse and putting a lot of effort into finding little things that show you care and notice his wants and needs. I don't think we are ever to old to have a little fun.
P.S. You could tie this in to the new movie "Pirates of the Caribbean" . Could be lots of fun to invite people - have pirates hats etc. ( Rum drinks? ) Your kids would have a blast!

Most guys like to have a thick steak, baked potatoes with sour cream, no veggies that's not manly, lots of mushrooms cooked with a wee bit of garlic butter, and one other thing, don't forget the beer. Can't let him run out of beer. After that a nice chair next to the campfire which is really flaming up. Quiet evening together kids asleep now. Lots of land you say, if there is a clearing or an enclosed place that you have already choosen with a sleeping bag, bring him there and then make passionate love and do whatever he likes. WOW what a night. Next time he should do something special for you.... what you give you will receive... Good luck Mildred sent me...

Start by having the kids make him breakfast.
Then take him to the movie of his choice in the afternoon with a big tub of popcorn.
Send the kids off....set up a cooler with his favorite beverage, order a pizza. Sit back and enjoy.
Get frisky. Be creative.
Get the kids.

Plan a picnic. Pack a frisbee and ball and other games for the kids to play. Sit on the blanket and talk with your husband, have some wine and enjoy your family and the picnic.

Sometimes the best gifts are homemade ones. Having your kids and you make something for your husband can be fun and should not cost much. Try going to a dollar store for crafts if you have one near you. I know I always enjoy homemade gifts from my kids

I've been there, too, when my children were young. There are a few things you can do....have the kids help you the morning of his birthday, and give him breakfast in bed.
Here's a website where I found a number of things that other people have done that are all inexpensive and/or free:

Go to a store like wal-mart and get the plaster handprint kit and your kids can make him handprints and paint them for him, you can get something cute for that night (hint hint) some candles, strawberries whip cream to feed him etc. Do a household chore for him that he usually does. Simple stuff make guys happy too.

I've been through this ....money tight and just moved.

My wife tucked my kids in bed, made sure that they were asleep and then when I went to bed (totally disappointed that I received no gift) and there she was laying in bed with just a ribbon draped across her ..... She smiled at me and said "Happy Birthday".

It was cool!
