I find it amazing (am not picking on you) that people will ask others even sinners such questions.., strangers you know nothing about. They could be anybody with any agenda.
You can NEVER go wrong with the Bible. The Apostle Paul can be hard to understand at times - even Peter said so himself. While Paul does not drift from the truth, many misunderstand much of what he says and start preaching things they know nothing about, including right and holy living.
I refer people like you who ask about right living - to 1st and 2nd Peter. He communicates more clearly than Paul does and if you read it in the NIV -it is astounding how well the clarity of Peter rings through.
When in doubt - go to the Bible - not people of the day who are often swayed by every wind of doctrine.
There may be some good advice given here - but I promise you some of them are as far and removed from the truth (as well meaning as they are) as Satan himself.

Just to do the morally right thing by yourself and everyone else. I am not religious at all and probably am as good a christian as anyone because i have a good sense of honour and right and wrong . I do it because I feel like it - christians do it coz god tells them to- same result.

Be as Christ...walk his walk...turn no one away and accept all, show them the Love of God and the Hope that he can inspire not through words but through actions, be like the Father in the Prodgical Son story not the Son, and always accept those lost and dead back when they want to live again....dont just memorize the verses dont just preach the word and dont just surround yourself with believers because all these things are not how Christ lived..show me one place he turned ANYONE away for not believeing in him....show me ANYPLACE that said he only gave sermons and never helped anyone...you can't because he truely loved the world he loved everyone in it and he died and was risen to forgive us for our sin..beyond that its all meaningless....money, power...these things a christian strives not for....

The best way is to never mention the words Christian, God said, the bible says, or anything else that requires you to elevate yourself or judge others (play God).

Be a witness for Jesus. When He saves you, He changes you. All things become new. You want to pray, read your Bible, go to church. You live your life apart from this world. You seek God for the will of your life. You will no longer enjoy sin. You want to serve Jesus, and walk close with Him. Go out and tell others how much Jesus loves them, and Jesus saves. Let your light shine for Jesus.

Just go by the Bible, thats what its there for. Live life the way God wants you to, not the way you want to.

Jesus said it: Leave everything and follow me
So you have to sell all things you have and live a spiritual life.
I think this is not possible today so try to be coherent, I mean that you only do what you bellieve and feel you have to do. (Do not do to others what you would not like to be done to you)

l think the best way would be to follow what St.Francis of Assissi said:
''Go into the world and preach the gospel.Use words only if necessary.''
Our smiles, our caring, our endurance and diligence all ''preach'' the gospel louder and more effectively than our words.

Everything seems to broil down to love your neighbor as you love God. If you do this (no one said is easy) all the other commandments, etc naturally fall in line.

To not pick and choose what things to enforce. Either take it all literally, or all as symbolic, and to not be a hypocrite in what you choose to practice/enforce (I'm talking about all you shrimp/shellfish eaters out there).
