Religion is based . . . mainly on fear . . . fear of the mysterious, fear of defeat, fear of death. Fear is the parent of cruelty, and therefore it is no wonder if cruelty and religion have gone hand in hand. . . . My own view on religion is that of Lucretius. I regard it as a disease born of fear and as a source of untold misery to the human race.

This is not possible, because for Buddhists there is no such a thing as "hell". Unlike the Christian faith, there is no "punishment" for not being a good Buddhist.

Buddhists work toward a goal of enlightenment for the sake of spirituality.

Christians work toward good behavior for the promise of Salvation when the world ends.

For Buddhists, the world doesn't end, it transforms and continues.

If you are a Christian, you shouldn't be in the mind to "scare" people into your belief, because they will believe out of fear, not out of true passion for Christ's teachings.

Perhaps you should look into Buddha's teachings and compare the two for yourself? You will find they are not very different, except Buddhism doesn't rely heavily on guilt and fear to motivate its followers.

I'm not preaching that one is better than the other, but there is something to be learned from all religion, especially when the religion teaches love, respect, and honor.

Why would you want to. Spread the good news of Christianity, be a keen example of what Christianity stands for like a light or beacon for the rest of the world. But, allow others to follow the path they choose. Never resort to Satan's tactics in converting people. If you are living your life correctly as a Christian, people will by your example want to immitate you and take up the mantle of Christianity without scare tactics.

I hate to burst your bubble but Buddhism is far superior to Christianity in understanding of the cosmos and our creator. The true Prince of Peace was Buddha, not Jesus. Look at the actions of the followers of both since they walked on this earth.

Perhaps you would be wiser to spend some time researching where the christian version of hell came from and wise up.

You could try nailing their firstborns to crosses or impaling them on sharpened sticks, like the good old days of the Christian crusades.

Believe me, Buddhists know more about the true nature of God than you do.

Its not about "scaring people." Yes, Hell is real and the thought of it is scary, but you don't become a Christian just because you're afraid of going to Hell, if you do then you became a Christian for the wrong reason. The real reason to be a Christian is because you desire a relationship with Jesus Christ who loves us. He loves us enough to take away our punishment in Hell. Here's an example. The thought of being single is very scary to me, but I shouldn't get married just because I'm afraid of being single. I should only get married because I love the person I'm marrying and I desire a relationship with them. If I married someone just because I'm afraid to be single then I married for the wrong reason

Stupid question. Buddhism has been around a lot longer than Christianity....over 500 years before Christ....

Buddhists won't go to "Christian hell"...but you may.

i agree with the first answer that you received, THAT:S JUST WRONG. anyone scared into anything will never benefit themselves or the institution that they are scared into joining. they receiving neither the Christ of the Christians nor an understanding of their conversion. don't give up but MAN! don't shove down his throat till you see the other end.
