Because everything in the Bible actually happened! All fictional stories begin with "once upon a time" b/c they are referring to stories that don't exist and never happened. The Bible is all factual and not storytelling.

"Once upon a time" wasn't added to stories until many, many years later. And not only that, but although people often tend to think of the Bible as being one book, it's actually a compilation of books written over hundreds of years.

because the bible is not a storybook, it is a book of laws and a way to live. the storys in the bible are written to show us the way to live, examples to take, and storys of punishments to make us be carefull.
