Uh... Why? What did you hear?

Lies tend to come back and bite you in the butt, anyway. It's always best to 'fess up, before the matter or mistake is discovered. Doing so gives you credibility, the trust of your peers, and often lessens the impact of any consequences. And in the workplace, you may only be reprimanded for the indiscretion, however you could get fired for lying.

Who hasn't told a lie to cover their own butts?

Oh Oh....The answerer who calls herself "JLo" above fibbed. I think everyone would like to think they are truthful to the core, but yes of course you'd lie to save you're butt. It's just that when fibbing so grandly for the purpose of self preservation, we rationalize it so that somehow it's not really a 'lie', but well....more like 'rearranging the truth in our favor'. It still quacks like a duck though.

wouldnt everyone? if they could get away with it at least. Of course if you are already busted then lieing will just make it worse, sometimes it's best to just admit you messed up and hope for forgivness.

I have in the past and regretted it every time. Today I bite the bullet and fess up when in the wrong. Less to remember.

I have and it ended badly...

I have since then always told the truth, no matter who it hurt....which in my own sadistic frame of mind, is so much better to see the look on someone's face after you've hurt them..
