Have you ever come across a person who seemed or was an enlightened being...so close to epitomizing Buddha or Jesus in their waves of love that it was awe inspiring? That you wished or desired to be like this person in their expression of Truth, Joy and Love and wondered how?
This is not a joke.
This is actually a serious question so I'll encourage serious answers ---but on the flip side of that, I'm aware that people will still give smartass or "you're an idiot!" remarks.
But remember, you are entitled to your belief structure just as much as I am. So please respect it and don't tell me to read the bible as not everyone follows or is into the Chrisitan or Catholic faith/religion. And no, it would not be already answered if I was. Thank you.

The most enlightened people are the ones that are not pigeonholed into believing one thing and only one thing. Those that are open minded and use logic and common sense along with love have the best things to say and don't sound like parrots repeating the same thing over and over again.
The names you mentioned come to mind along with names like Socrates, Ghandi and Carl Sagan, my personal hero.

To become enlightened would be very hard, but is something that I do try to work towards. I have many failures, but those failures only help me strive to reach a better and higher state of being.

NO, NOT EVER!!!! We are going DOWN not up. To be a Christian is to be Christ like, and to be Christ like is to be like God. The closer we come to this ideal then the more of Gods love we emulate. But we are not an enlightened one, that is new wave BULL HOCKEY, and comes straight from Satan's own mouth.

I believe someone can be enlightened and not have to be loving and kind 24/7 i beleive spirtuality comes within ones self. Know thyself, and know that you have been here before many many times i do not believe christians can be spiritual they are too hooked on dogma and Jesus to pay attention to themselves.

i have to agree we can become enlightened but we all have to remove the religious bias and dogmatic views in our own personal life to achieve such a goal. i believe as a spiritualist that we all can become enlightened thru spiritual understanding and acceptence to all people as equals not to judge or condem others as christianity has done they are killing there souls by following books and not there own hearts.

I believe that one can be on the highest status of sprituality ie The Enlightment. But for that our faith must be strong. I believe HE can appear everyday in front of you if we have believe in HIM. Mind you, there will be tests to given, hurdles to pass and faith will be grilled but if we clear these hurdles we can understand HIM and we can say that we have got HIM. That day the Jesus will come in our life for ever.

I like they way you think. we should chat sometime. My answer is no, but i will when i see them. i have met incredibly generous and smart people before, but not full on enlightened.
