Nope..The whole concept of being a Christian comes from the Bible and apart from that there is no way to become a Christian.. Jesus said you had to be born again. There is no other book I know of that says how to be born again and have a personal relationship with God himself, only the Bible talks in those terms..
A christian that doesn't believe the Bible really isn't a christian.
An electrician that rejects the concept of electricity..
Here lies the crux of the problem.. Christians have had a spiritual experience with God that you cannot see, but experience inside of their mind and will. It is positive and beautifal and we love what has happened to us. No one else can taste, feel, or measure what has happened except the person that it has happened to. That is why Christians are so sure of what they have.
A non christian is puzzled by this and reads the same Bible and can't get the same answer, because they haven't had the experience..
I understand how the non christian feels as I was once a non christian and didn't understand.. I can still remember thinking that these guys are fruitcakes. But now I am one of them and never ever want to go back to my old life. Jim I am so happy and fulfilled in my life that I would never exchange it.

I don't know how. The bible IS God's Word. To be a Christian ("Christ Like") you must believe in your heart and confess with your mouth that Jesus died AND rose again for our sins.

If someone doesn't believe the Bible - God's Word to be true then how can they believe that Jesus died and rose again - so how can they be a Christian?

In response to the Trinity not being in the Bible - it most certainly is. The Trinity is The Father - The Son - and The Holy Spirit. The Father is in the Bible - God. The Son is in the Bible - Jesus. And the Holy Spirit is in the Bible - The Comforter that was sent when Jesus died and rose again on the cross. Christians are Children of God, Joint Heirs with Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit lives inside us.

Of course! To be a Christian is to follow the Christ's teachings (hence the term Christian). The Bible, as we know it, is comprised of books deemed "suitable" by those in power at the time they were put together. There are MANY books left out of the current version of the Bible (ie: the Gnostic books), therefore, one needs to question the agenda behind the books chosen. The current version of the Bible has little to do with being a Christian.

Yes. The problem here are the words true & Christian. Very few Christians accept the Bible as 100% literal even those that claim they do overlook some passages. Some have idolised The Bible (their own particular interpretation) as the "word of God" and deny the label "Christian" to anyone who disagrees. Even the fundys will fall into different camps it is the nature of sectarianism.

The question might be better-put can I believe in the bible and be a good Christian. Christianity as it is currently practiced is not following the teaching of Jesus. Jesus said love your neighbor. There was no except for in this statement. It called for universal application of the love God made us capable of being. Christianity is a religion of exclusivity. Jesus taught inclusively. A true Christian cannot follow the bible as it is being taught today and be a true follower of Jesus.

The BELIEF that Jesus died for your sins, so that you can stand pure and clean before God, gets you into Heaven.
Whether the Bible is completely true or not , does not make you a Christian or get you into Heaven
Some Denominations (Baptist and others) believe this, Presbeterians(i think) do not. Different people within those denominations believe one way or
the other. This does not effect whether they are Christians or not.

Definitely no. No matter what domination one is from, the Bible is God's word. Prayer is a way Christians talked to God and God used the scripture to talk back. There's no way a Christian doesn't believe the Bible.

NO!! Jesus said that the scriptures (Our Old Testament) testified of Him. So, If you do not believe that the Bible is true then you can not believe that Jesus is anything to you, and you can not call yourself a Christian (Christ like), and if you do then you are a liar, and NO LIAR WILL ENTER HEAVEN. And if you do not read, or study your Bible, but instead just let the preacher tell you what it says then you are not putting your faith in Jesus, but you are instead putting your faith in a man, and you will not go to heaven no matter what you believe.

I believe they are called cafeteria christians or a la carte christians.

These are usually the best kind because they are not taken in by the more extreme aspects of religion and tend to let common sense prevail wheras the fundies will follow the bible to the letter of the law even if that means spewing hate and intolerance.
