Perspective? I don't see how that's relavant because unless you take a picture of a flat object that fills the frame, perspective is natural.

Now, you may mean depth of field. Which is quite simply, what is and isn't in focus. In that case, whether or not you use a shallow (limited focus) or a deep (greater amount of focus) depth of field is depenendant only on what you are trying to achieve with the photo.
