hmm, they are supposed to hurt for a little bit after each tightening, but not all the time. you really need to go find another orthodontist and see whats happenning. Also - you might just have cavities underneath the braces, so a regular dentist might help u too. good luck

I feel you! I have had braces for 8 years and have had power chains 3 times. The best thing to do is take some pain meds and chew food with you tongue instead if you teeth. If you wires are heat activated try sucking on some ice (just don't chew it!) or drinking really cold drinks. It should only hurt for about a week. Hang in there!

I have braces too, so I know how it feels. The best way to get rid of the pain is to take some medicine- I would suggest Advil Liquigels. They help me whenever I have "braces pain". And as for you not being able to eat, take the medicine and just give it some time- then eat only really soft foods for a while. Slowly, build up from there- when you eat harder foods and it hurts then your teeth will adjust and be able to handle more hard foods. Good luck, and hope the pain goes away!

You can take Tylenol, Ibuprofen, or any pain medication. The pain should go away within a week. I had to get power chains, and I couldn't even touch my teeth to together. Just drink liquids and use molars for eating.

AHHHHH~ that sucks. I have had braces for about 6 months and I hate all of the pain from them. Everyone tells me that about after 9 months you just get used to the pain that just eat thru it... I am not looking forward to any of this.

Take some pain pills. Aleve works well. Give it a day or two the pain will ease once the teeth shift enough to lighten the pressure.

Well I would say do what the Fockers did on the baby on Meet the Fockers. Dab a little bit of rum or something on it to numb the pain.
