To start with, "all" means human beings -- not animals. Secondly, in context with the theory of evolution, I don't believe it was a physical image in which He created us, but perhaps our souls that resemble Him. As far as gender goes, God is neither man nor woman. The male figure in early literature was always considered the dominant gender, so to represent God's dominion over the world, He has always naturally been assimilated to masculine terms.

image means just that.. when you look into a mirror you see an image . when you look into the eyes of a man or woman you can see there life and God breathed that life into them when he created them.. woman was created after man so that God did create man in his image and woman was created in the image of man with his bone.. woman wasnt created from dirt but was created by God with adams bone.
our soul and spirit was given by God.. God was made flesh and dwelled on the earth and He was called Jesus. so yes God is and was and ever will be both body and soul. and now we as his creattion must reflect that image and not act like animals.

Man and woman were made in the image of God with individuality, the power and freedom to think and to do. Though created free beings, each is an indivisible unity of body, mind, and spirit, dependent upon God for life and breath and all else. When our first parents disobeyed God, they denied their dependence upon Him and fell from their high position under God. The image of God in them was marred and they became subject to death. Their descendants share this fallen nature and its consequences. They are born with weaknesses and tendencies to evil. But God in Christ reconciled the world to Himself and by His Spirit restores in penitent mortals the image of their Maker. Created for the glory of God, they are called to love Him and one another, and to care for their environment. (Gen. 1:26-28; 2:7; Ps. 8:4-8; Acts 17:24-28; Gen. 3; Ps. 51:5; Rom. 5:12-17; 2 Cor. 5:19, 20; Ps. 51:10; 1 John 4:7, 8, 11, 20; Gen. 2:15.)

Everything that exists everywhere, including the infinite universe and all of its alternate dimensions are created in the image and likeness of God. God is not a "being" per se but rather the formless, genderless, omnipresent, eternal energy source which is the process of life itself.

These two passages are very important when someone is asking the question you just asked. Also... notice this passage where the image is not of one spirit, but of more than one...
Genesis 1:26 And God said, Let us make man in "our image", after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
In this passage, the reference to "our image" is referring to 3 spirits. The spirit of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. They all took part in creating all of creation.
Genesis 1:27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. Once again, creating man and women's spirits in the image of the Father, son and the Holy Ghost
God first made man is His image which is man's spirit, for God is a spirit. Then in Genesis 2:7 This is what happens with that spirit.
7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
As for woman...
Genesis 2:22-23 And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.
23 And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.
Why did God make woman???
Gennesis 2:18 And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.
This woman was to be a life long helper, lover, companion, and wife and mother to Adam's children.
God also says this... 2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
He wants us to study the word of God. Rightly dividing means to fully understand what He is teaching us. Shew thyself apporved means to accept His word and the truth, and become less of who you started out to be when you first began your spiritual walk with Him, and more of who He wants you to be in Christ.
The more you study the word of God the more God will reveal what He knows you can handle in His teachings. He will not show you things you re not ready for. It's wonderful!

When Jehovah said to Jesus (who was the first born of all creation) "let us make man in our image" what he meant was that man would be given outstanding qualities like God possesses including wisdom, power, righteousness, and love.
Jehovah God is a spirit being and as such has no gender

In Judaism: Unlike Christianity, God is never regarded as exclusively male or masculine; God has both masculine and feminine qualities. God doesn't have a body or sex organs, therefore the idea that God is male or female is ridiculous. Jews refer to God in masculine terms because Hebrew has no neutral gender. God is a spirit. "Image" (as in "in his image") refers to God's design or blueprint.

It means that when you sin, you can also feel good about it. Because god is like you, therefore your sin came directly from a similar though process that god would have had!!!

It means that every one of us has in common the divinity of God consciousness. In other words, we are all ONE.
Oneness of existence.
It is our EGO-centered self that separates, hate those that are other than the self.
