The Egg was first. Belive me it has a scientific base to it. Darwin's theory has backing to it or otherwise we can say Darwin's theory was based on it.
By this i mean that when an egg was layed it it had few abnormilities so it led to the birth of new living bieng for that matter a chicken could have born this way

The chicken (s)--a hen and a rooster. Genesis 2:19--"And out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field and every bird of the sky, and brought them to the man to see what he would call them; and whatever the man called a living creature, that was its name."

An egg does not hatch without something to keep it warm and turn it. But of course, an egg must be laid by something. Hence, the chicken was first. And there had to be a rooster as well as a hen so that the egg would be fertile.
