Beef, Pork, Chicken and Turkey...they have different ones. Only things is that it may not be the parts of the animals that you normally like to eat. Like lips, face and etc. So, next time you look at a package of hotdogs, think about what you are getting. I must say though, I love Nathan's and Sabrett hot dogs with the casing. Best wishes and take care.

Most hot dogs are a combo of "mechanically separated pork, mechanically separated turkey and mechanically separated chicken". For the most part, hot dogs are made with what ever is left over- ie. fat, meat scraps, and I think even organ meat. Other hot dogs are made of beef, but these ones clearly advertise that they are made of beef on their label. These are still made from the leftovers. Also, any hot dogs labeled kosher are made of beef. Although I do not follow a kosher diet, I would be more inclined to buy kosher hot dogs because they have to follow stricter rules in how they are made, what they are made of etc. But for the most part, hot dogs do not have much nutritional value, they are made from a very large percentage of fat. Less common is the tofu dog (ie. Not Dog), turkey dog and I'm sure there are chicken dogs. I would, however, doubt the existence of fish hot dogs but, I'm not saying there's no such thing.

It is what you call mechanically reclaimed meat.

When all of the "good" parts of the animal has been harvested a pressure hos is used to spray down the carcass, the meat is then collected and out in processed foods.

Along with this they also add fat, preservatives like MSG (monosoduimglucemate, highly addictive) and other parts you don't want to think about!
Also some vegetable products, but all of it tends to be "waste" or thing you shouldn't really eat.

it is normally mechanically reclaimed meat, this is meat thats leftover after the prime cuts are taken of the carcass ,it is then put in a pressure cooker industrial size and any meat thats left is forced of the bones .then its put through a sieve and mixed with breadcrumbs and other additives sometimes flayourings then prossessed into hotdogs, also they add colourings to it as well
