I highly recommend Weight Watchers. Many diets are incredibly strict and therefore are easily broken. WW teaches how to make better food choices, but also allows for indulgences here and there. The program doesn't expect you not to have a cookie once in a while; you just have to learn to count that cookie and keep it to one cookie each indulgence.
As far as exercise goes, buy a heart monitor and get out of the house. The ab lounger will help build muscle, but it won't do very much to burn fat. Start walking, running, take an aerobics class once a week, whatever you enjoy. Be sure to get in 30-60 minutes of cardiovascular activity per day, where your heart rate is between 60-80% of your maximum rate. And when you finish your cardio, have something to eat that contains protein within 45minutes or so. Doing this will help you to continue burning fat.

Low carb is the fastest way to lose weight but if your favorite foods are high carb then I don't recommend this. Weight Watchers is the best thing I have found to lose weight on. You probably won't lose 20 lbs on it before August though. That's not that far away. If you can do the low carb thing, then do it. I did Atkins and lost 17 lbs in 2 weeks. Again though I don't recommend this. It seems to be too fast of a weight loss. And I didn't keep it off because I like high carb food.

I recently went on a diet, based on what I've seen on that tv program Big Brother. I like peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, so I figured I'd give it a try. I've lost about 10 pounds since I started eating JUST teaspoons of peanut butter off and on all day, and then a sensible dinner. Shortly after starting this plan, I received an email from RealAge, which I subscribe too, stating that eating high protein nuts and peanut butter, will speed your liver up, which will in turn boost your metabolism, and allow you to burn fat faster. This combined with exercise, you should burn that 20 pounds in no time. I've found biking and walking to be the BEST forms of exercise. I dumped 20 pounds last summer in one week, just biking 2 miles a day, for 5 days. The best advice I can give you though, don't overdue your exercising if it has been awhile since you've exercised last. Don't jump right in and start doing 100 sit-ups or biking 5 miles a day. Start into it easy. If you start slow, your chances of putting the weight back on, are less. People who drop weight WAY too fast, tend to put the weight right back on within the year, and then some. If you have the ab lounger, I'd suggest going for a 15 minute bike ride to warm up, and then coming home and using the ab lounger for 15 minutes. If 15 minutes is too long for you to start, then start out with 10 or even 5. Really, that is going to depend on how good of shape you are in, and what you can handle. If just eating the peanut butter isn't satisfying enough to you, try eating Almonds, or peanuts. They are filling. It used to be said, that exercising in the morning is the best. But now, it just depends on everyone's busy lifestyles. Eat sensibly at night. No breads!! They contain sugar. Carbs. Don't go on the Atkins diet, but watch what you eat. There are carbs in everything, and it can't be avoided. I still eat rice, but within reason. You can eat meats and cheeses.....but don't eat a ton of it. No your limit on eating...don't eat after you have that full feeling. I tend to get bored eating now, and find that is the best time to stop. A lot of diets will tell you to cut the meat and cheese out of your diet. Don't. You need the meat for iron in your blood, and you need the cheese for the calcium. Just don't overdue it. I've been successful with my diet, and still been able to treat myself at the end of the week with an ice cream cone with the kids, or a pop here and there. Lets just put it this way, 3 years ago, I was 5'3" and I weighed in at 195. Now, I weigh 165, and I don't even look like I weigh that much. I've stayed as heavy as I am, because I've turned my fat into muscle by exercising. My goal by the end of the summer is 140, which is the top of where I should be. It's taken me so long, because I have asthma, and chronic bronchitis/pneumonia. So everytime I get sick, the doctors stick me back on a steroidal inhaler, or pill to flush my lungs out. There goes the weight. So, as of recent, I've quit taking all that kind of stuff, and found with what I've been doing with eating and exercising, I've lost the weight faster.

Run for 5 km every day until august. I did this and lost 5lbs a week, while eating only around 1000 calories a day. It is possible, reduce your diet, and try to eat as many veggies and fruits as possible. And excercise 1-2 hours every day, all week!

A FEW THINGS TO REMEMBER:
The correct way to burn fat and stay healthy is to burn more calories than you consume
You need to make sure you are eating healthy foods while still excercising
If you have a big appetite drink plenty of water so that you will feel full but not consume calories
But you should always eat
If you start to skip meals you will only be more hungry at your next meal and probably eat way too much
Remember, the average persons stomach is as big as a slice of pizza scrunched up into a ball
So you shouldnt be putting more food into your stomach than what fits
Also, it takes aproximately 15-20 minutes for your brain to realize that you are full
so eat slower and you will realize sooner when you are not hungry anymore
