Because, in the USA, we are not a country founded on religious beliefs. Our country was founded by those who were escaping religious persecution. Why do you want to continue to persecute people based on religious beliefs?

Dear Just Wondering,
It seems in today's society that everyone is more concerned about being politically correct than living what they believe. One man can twist the constitution to fit his radical beliefs and berate the beliefs of the majority. I believe that if a person doesn't want to participate in prayer or if their child's salute of our flag offends them than that is their right. They simply should choose not to participate, it is their right to do so. However it is also my right to salute the flag and for my son to pray before he plays in a high school football game.....These are my rights protected by the constitution. May God continue to bless this great nation, and for those that don't agree that is your right too...however don't infringe upon my rights to believe the way that I believe. Praise God!!!!!!!!!! Wave the flag and love your children! I thank the lord every day that I have the freedom to choose.... Or don't it is simply your right, your choice....

Because we now live in a minority rules environment. Also, more people may say they are christian, but I know many who say that, yet don't read the Bible, go to Church, or anything religious. Yet they sin everyday as we all do. I don't consider these people Christians. Sorta like saying I'm a christian because my mother is one.
The remaining, practicing Christians are a much smaller number. And of the much smaller number, many don't want to make anyone unhappy, so give them much of what they want. (prayer in school (even silent), Bibles in school (Teachers can't have one on their desk), etc....)

People who don't beleive in god should have that freedom. I mean, don't we hold freedom of religion as one of our basic rights? If you feel that is ruining your life, that's really your choice as a response. Personally I think you are wasting your time on it, when you could be working on your own personal relationship with god that you obviously hold dear.

Not sure about you, but I run my own life. Nobody can tell me anything. It's a sad shame that people care too much what others think about them. That's the problem.
