No. Your not dead, you wake up dont you?
Its a deep question, but kinda idiotic, sorry man. Its not quantum physics here.
Dreams are thoughts, not reality. Just like when you think about the bubblebutt woman bending over in the subway is not reality, no matter how much you want it to be.
Now I do believe that your thoughts can affect your reality, I mean if you constantly have depressing thoughts, your not likely to be the most perky guy at work. It flip flops, think on good things, things you enjoy, your likely to be a great person to hang around.

You can not be technically dead as your brain is still active, your only dead when the brains stops.
The reality of your dreams depends on your perception, the old question are you a man dreaming he's a butterfly or a butterfly dreaming he's a man.
You could be asleep now dreaming your reading this perfect answer to the perfect question or maybe not.

no you are NOT technically dead when you're sleeping. Technically, billions and gazillions of cells in your body still work out to keep your metabolism up. Your heart still pump, your lungs still breath, your blood still flow through your veins. Technically, you are an energy-conserving machine, or a hybernating computer, when you sleep.
no this does NOT mean your dreams are real, unless you have telepathic abilities that connects you to the waking world. What you project in your mind is not real even though you are alive. Its a real movie, like something you watch in a black and white cinema, but you're just lying down there watching a virtual screen with your eyes closed.

First of all, technically dead is when breathing, beating heart, and brain functioning ceases. So if you stop breathing, don't have a pulse, and don't use any part of your brain when you sleep, then yes. Logically, dreams are a part of your individual reality. The dreams themselves are not reality, but the existence of dreams and "experiencing them" are a part of each person's reality.

when you sleep you are not technically dead....'cause your heart is still beating when you are aslleep but at a much slower rate than when you are awake....but most of your muscles will be paralyzed by your brain when you are asleep......thats why some people would consider sleep as half-dead.....or the cousin of death.
your dreams are not reality but i'm not a dream specialist so i cannot tell you what a dream technically is.
Peace and regards

Well thats a good question. The Bible says that when you die you sleep until Jesus returns, remember when Jesus went to the house where the little girl was dead and he said to the weepers why weep, the damsel is but asleep and they laughed Him to scorn the Bible says. But he sent them out and then he called her back to life. When we sleep it is the mercy of God that we awake and its a miracle that happens to us every morning. Dreams are nothing more than images in a story form being projected onto your mind by your subconsciousness, however, dreams can also be visions as the Bible says and maybe God will talk to you in yours if he has something to tell you.

Even in your sleep you are conscious, thats why you wake up when someone calls out your name
Your brain is working
Your body is also working
Your metabolism is also on
So you are not technically dead when you are asleep

When you are "dead" it means that your Brain no longer reacts to certain stimuli, thus coining the term "Brain dead."
When you are asleep but you are dreaming this is your imagination, in is no more reality that a day dream, it is your Brain "sorting" out emotional dramas.
When you are asleep you are just resting.

A sleeping person is not dead. Subconscious mind works and dreams.Dreams are not necessarily true..Dreams are a means to interpret the mind.

You may not be conscious, but you slip into a subsconscious, and I'm afraid that while dead, you don't slip into any sort of consciousness at all. So no, your dreams are not reality.
