Do you mean a dvd player with an HDMI output? So that you can output your dvds to 720p on your digital display?

I just bought the Sony DVPNS75H and I love it. It can't play DivX, which is annoying at times, but overall it's quite good.

The LG LDA-531 was also a good set, but maybe discontinued because of their newer, but weaker LDA-731 model.

Finally, there's the OPPO OPDV971H which has been praised by almost every review website.

I suggest trying them out first if possible with your display, as I've noticed some dvd players have little to no difference in picture quality with their HDMI connection and upscaling abilities.

UPDATE: I've never really looked or read up on Denon players because they're out of my price range. I know they make high-end gear, but that OPPO really is a bargain considering the reviews it's been getting. Here's a few websites that can be helpful. One of the sites is quite technical though, so it can be a pretty long read. Hope that helps.

you recognize, given the technical issues of attempting to upscale low res interlaced video to severe res non interlaced video, i think of 40 is somewhat low-priced to do the job nicely. The electronics is going to require an entire blown DSP microprocessor, super memory, and intensely state-of-the-artwork firmware to do the job nicely. as nicely, it has to do it in genuine time. i do no longer see that occuring for something below an extremely giant investment!
