I mean, isn't it all fake--the stuff you see on TV? Or, if it is real, do you have to have a really weak mind, one that is easily swayed by the power of suggestion? Has anyone out there ever really been hypnotized? If so, how, and what did it feel like?

The stuff you see on tv is totally fake. Those folks play along. If it were real, can you imagine how easily ANYONE could watch those shows, then put everyone they see or meet to 'sleep' and get them to rob places or commit other crimes etc etc?? It's soooo totally fake. I have a friend who had a therapist who hypnotized her and it's NOTHING like on tv. It takes time, lots of it. You also will not do anything you do not want to do. It's really a matter of quieting your mind, then repeating over and over a certain desire. For example quitting smoking. It seldom is done in one shot, usually many visits or very long ones. And then it's a matter of suggestion, visualization is a HUGE part. Your mind is never unaware of things like they portray on tv.

Yes, it is very possible to be hypnotized without drugs.
However, drugs can increase the suggestibility in a subject
There are different types of suggestible types, so experiences
can vary depending on what suggestibility a person
experiences. It has nothing to do with a weak mind at all. Many
subjects react differently depending on the suggestible type as
well as other factors such as environment and comfort level with
the therapist. Hypnotherapy can be very beneficial is several
areas of your life, but the “all in one room” does not always
work for everyone, but can work on some.

People are hypnotized without the use of drugs all the time. Some people are more susceptible to hypnotism than others, but it IS possible to hypnotize someone without using drugs. I've heard that people who easily get lost while reading a book are often more susceptible to hypnotic suggestion.

hypnotism is a science, and you can read many books on the subject, as well as search the web for more information. i have seen a programme of a 9 year old girl magician in Pune, maharashtra, india, she had a terrific command over the skill. she called any body from the audience, and asked them to do things they haven't done before, and they did it! there are plus and minus sides of this, robbers use it to enter a jewellery shop, and by their hypnotising techniques, loot the jewellery by simply taking it away in broad daylight. plus side is, with the help of hypnosis, you could cure alcoholism, and some other emotional problems, delve into a person's mind to find out the traumas in childhood, and some secrets hidden in his subconscious, which he wouldn't be able to remember otherwise. but this double-edge weapon has to be used only by experts and well-meaning persons. the person does not recollect anything, once he awakens from hypnosis., but can act as per the suggestions. magicians use mass hypnosis, and we really believe he has cut the body of a girl in pieces, on the table. it is of course, some trade secrets and hypnosis. have you seen that movie of Woody Allen, when he and his female colleague from the office are hypnotised in a show? and then he starts robing the jewels when the magician phones and instructs him to do so? it's a hilarious movie. so it's not about having a weak mind or any thing, you could try it out with a renowned expert, in case you have some problem, lke giving up smoking may be?

You definitely can get hypnotized without drugs. For the most part, the TV/movie representation of hypnosis is not very accurate...much like many representations of real-world issues.

Yes, I have been hypnotized. It was in a group session for weight loss. It is a very pleasant experience. You are totally aware of what is going on, just very relaxed.

My sister had hypnotized her daughter using a candle. She was trying to do past life regression.
Hypnotism is really a deep form of relaxation/meditation. It is more successful with people that are willing to be hypnotized, &/or with someone that is in a tired state of mind.

If you're familiar with hypnosis, then you've no doubt heard of Master Hypnotist Steve G. Jones. His book, "Ultimate Conversational Hypnosis" has been voted as the best hypnosis course ever made. The book is also available in electronic format at: http://www.hypnosistocontrol.net

If you want to get an edge in everyday communication and lead other people towards your goals this is a must read.

no drug is necessary for hypnotizing any person. but even experts in the field of hypnotism fail to hypnotize if the subject is not willing to get hypnotized.even in hypnoses stage also, if the suggestions given by the hypnotist are not acceptable to the subject, he will not obey them.what is required is the willing of the person who is going to be hypnotised not strong minds or weak minds.

Absolutely. There is a plethora of good hard research to back up the appropriate use of hypnotism. My studies in psychology during my undergrad years led me to many resources which may now be out of date.
