I know that. I dont mind that people question me about my religion, or question it period. The thing I mind is when people get disrespectful when it comes to what I believe. That is what angers me. When someone scoffs at my God. When someone is disrespectful to me, because of what I believe. My husband is VERY quick to defend his faith, when he feels threatened. (I think the two of you have already met). He wants people to understand, but comes across very trite sometimes. I respect you, and your beliefs. Know that.

No, because as Christians, whether we are living right or not, we are a family - if you criticize one member of a family, have you not pretty much upset the whole family with you ? As to why some stand up with grace and finesse and others don't - some have been given that ability to do so where others haven't. And if we come across as hatred with what we "spew", maybe it's that because instead of asking us with sincerity, you've actually asked us in derision, and we can tell the difference. Just as you think that we are bizarre because we follow Jesus Christ in a personal relationship, which is Christianity and is not a religion, it is set apart from a religion that claims itself to be Christianity but relies on a lot paganistic rites and rituals to further a kingdom here on earth and it does seem bizarre and I can understand why you would question the legitmacy of such a religion. But not all Christians belong to the religion of Christianity. Many simply belong to a fellowship of Christian brothers and sisters who have a stronger belief in the New Testament and the church that Christ built than the ones that many try to say Peter built, which is the religion of Catholicism that is misnomered as Chrisitianity by all public outlets and media. Maybe this distinction in terminology has been what has confused you more than the difference in people's reactions. And we're aware you will question us as Christ told us you would.

There are "points" in your 'question' that seem rather hateful themselves. Such as "the two or three GOOD Christians", that is rather derogatory. "An attitude that is common among Christians..." what attitude is that? "...the hatred that many Christians spew..." I have read and heard much hatred from those who are not christian. I could continue but you get the idea, why is it that you do not stand against those who are non-Christians who attack Christians on a daily basis? As to your final statement....what ARE you questioning?

Well, let me just say that I believe I'm part of the minority. However, when you say things like "you christians" you are making a generalization of Christians whether you mean to or not. It would be the same as saying "you Jews" or "you black people" or "you latinos". You inadvertently lump all into one category and stereotype them. But then you have to realize that I do stand up to the hateful speech of other people who profess to be Christian. I've given many answers when I told people they were being horrible or that they were judging or that they were being a bigot. I try, but unfortunately, there aren't enough people that are truly trying to be good to go around and fix the bad that others are spreading.

Trust me I have been in Christian chat and have been around the hate spewing ones. Even when we do try to stand up to them, you have to understand that they will not be moved and do not see the errors of their ways. I often as a Christian myself wonder if they truly are Christians. So sad that we have a bad rap.
Since I have learned that I cannot change them , then I just go on my merry way and let God deal with them, because believe me he will deal with them. I just try to be the best example of what a Christian should be according to the Bible.

we don't treaet people in certain ways and being a christian you shouldn't judge us. christians are memers of god, some choose to act orderly and some choose to act like they aren't members of god. we don't overwhel minority, all we do is try to follow god's word and inform about how god is real to those who don't beleive. any few stand up to hateful speech because god said love our enemy. plus just for some people our personalities don't let us stand up to things like that. like naturally i'm a quiet person. whatever atheist called christian mini-fundie then that's okay with me cause i'm sticking with my beleifs and whoever don't like we'll see you at judgement day. that's great you aren't attacking us, so that shows you have a little bit of christian in you. it's the way god made you, i don't get how our religon could be bizarre, but christian's religion has beeen questioned for years and if only we had a time machine to find the truth, but no matter what god is real. go head question the christian faith but be aware those who question it and god are going to hell. hell may seem fun but it not, you're burning up eternal, demons are stabbing and killing you but this happens forever. in heaven it's not just a church service it's eternal bliss, fun , happines, health, no one would die there would be eternal life, and all we would have to do is serve god by being the best christians we can. not by an eternal church service. so which would you choose eternal bliss or eternal pain and suffering, i'd choose eternal bliss, cause people may say hell is fun it's not!

Ahh, the love of a debate - if there is a point to debate....
That is the problem w/ generalization, you offend the masses and not the small group you are aiming at. Now substitute the name Christians with... lets say Jews, or baby boomers, or lawyers or perverts. Those who belong to any one of those groups who actually care what you say may be offended and speak out. The rest don't care or belong to the group and realize your comments are not directed at them.
You may be questioning different belief systems and values and judging them as bizarre, perhaps your questioning will lead to educating yourself to a whole new way of life.

Buddy I've seen some of your questions and it does come off as though you are just some kind of "bible-basher" out to just stirr up trouble and get at kick out of pissing alot of Christians off.
Lets just put it this way, personally I grind against alot of the Christians that I generally hang around with. Sometimes they come off as though they are better than the others around them, which is wrong, my religion teaches that we are all rotten filthy sinners, only Christians have chosen to be forgiven. Still doesnt make me any better than you. But yes there are alot of hatred spewing Christians, just like there are alot of hatred spewing muslims, pagans, umm druids? Though I'm still looking for that one hatred spewing Buddhist. But yeah alot of Christians do like to force their religion down others throat, which is the reason most people turn away. It is one of the mainstream religions, which is another good reason we turn others away.
But for those people who do shove religion down your throat, or push you aside like your some kind of peice of trash, just know this little fact. Those SHOULD NOT be the model of what Christian really is. Those people are NOT grounded in their faith fully enough to trully understand it.
So if you keep questioning why I believe in God, I'll keep questioning why you dont. Agree to Disagree.
....athiest pig.... :P

Spewing hatred is not the way to win people over to Christ. The Bible says that when the disciples told Jesus that a certain bunch of people wouldn't listen to them and they wanted to go in and destroy them, Christ told them to just move on. All they could do was bring the word to them; if they chose not to believe that was their tough luck so to speak.
Obviously you have been exposed to the fundamentals of Christianity. That you choose not to believe is your business. I prefer to lead by example anyway. I, too, didn't used to believe, but since I changed my mind, my life is no longer in chaos all the time. I have someone absolutely steadfast to lean on. If you ever change your mind, He will be there waiting on you.
Grace & Peace to you

and we should care why you question it because?! who cares what you think or your questions. you believe what you want, christians believe what we want - thats that. to one person or another, every religion different from your own is bizarre in some way. how bizarre is the idea that if you go blow yourself up you will be rewarded with a bunch of virgins, or when you die you get your own universe....those are bizarre to me, but if someone wants to believe in it - go ahead. those people dont care that i question their religion, just like i dont care that you question mine. its like the lottery, if im right, i win when i die, and if im wrong, ive lived a good life treating people with the respect they deserve.
