As most of you can appreciate, I can see very well close up and not well at all far away now. I used to have good eyes. Because I do mostly close up work, I go without glasses or contacts. I've tried the bi type contacts and didn't like them and I can't stand wearing contacts with reading glasses for close up. I cross stitch and glasses fall off my head anyway so I just don't bother. What do you do? Can Lasix surgery correct this? I personally can't afford it right now anyway - but just curious. WHAT happens in the eyes that actually cause this "over 40" eyesight? It sucks.

Sounds like you and I are in the same boat. And it started right at 40. I asked the Doc about this and he told me what is going on is the eye's ability to change focus is the cause. I can work up close without glasses I can even drive without them. But I have just resigned myself to the fact that if I want to have similar sight as I had pre 40 I will have to wear glasses. I also ask him about surgery he told me if someone offered to it he would consider it negligent because it will not make any or very little difference.
