Put them both in a pillowcase and shake well.

I would allow the cat to train the puppy on this subject. The cat will hiss and the puppy will want to play. Keep reassuring the cat and petting the cat where the puppy can't reach. I have never seen a cat kill a puppy. I have seen a few pups get their noses swiped with a clawed paw but it was because the puppy wanted to dance on the cats head or something like that. I have seen dog hating cats train a pup to be their friend. It takes time and they will work it out. Don't be surprised if the cat hides for a day or two.

Introduce the dog slowly. Put a cage in the room with the dog in it. Let the cat sniff the cage for a few days and only let the dog out for a minute or two, or to go outside. Then gradually for a few more days let the dog out longer. It is possible they may become buddies, but if not maybe tolerate each other. The cat takes a lot of time to get used to a new animal.

Put the puppy in one room and close the door. (A room with light and fresh air obviously ). Take the cat to the door and let it smell the new pup through the closed door. Take things that the pup has scented (a blanket or chew toy) and place them in spots the cat frequently visits. (But not near the litter box, you dont want it to abandon that!). Do this for a few days and the cat will grow accustomed to the pups scent. Only when the cat has accepted the pups scent would I allow them to meet in a supervised situation. Throwing them together without doing this could end up in high vet bills for the pup if kitty gets upset and scratches the pups eye or something. I have introduced all my animals this way and never had a problem with any violent incidents. Just remember you cant force kitty to like the pup but you can expext a peacefull co-existance between them.

Just let them go about it in their own manner, just don't let the puppy all over the cat...scold the pup if it tries! Don't force it! They will hopefully, eventually deal with it! It will take time, dogs and cats are naturally incompatible, but they can also be friends!
Also, be sure the cat has some safe pup free zones, up on a counter or a blocked off area with a pet gate, etc.
Good luck!

I think it's more so introducing the cat to the puppy. Just make sure the puppy minds the cats boundaries, so that it won't freak out and try to hurt it

i did this once and luckily it worked out.
i had a really old dog that basically just layed around and did nothing and then got a cat who was about 2 years old.
i put them in the kitchen and someone held the dog, and someone held the cat.
the cat hissed and hissed for about 5 minutes. every once in a while we would bring them closer together. the cat would hiss some more, but we kept bringing them closer together every few minutes.
eventually the cat realized the dog wasn't going to hurt her. they ended up sleeping together every night. the cat curled up with the dog...it was so cute.
it can work, be patient.

wrap the cat in a blanket, with nothing showing but her face so it dont hurt you holding it, as well as the dog, just keep a tight grip on it, and have the dog walk up to you easy, with the cat sitting on your lap, in the blanket, and just have them gently sniff each other, do this every day until the cat stops hissing at the dog, id say for about 10mins a day cuz you dont want to tramatize the poor thing

I had this problem...I just let nature take its course put them together and once they got used to eachother they got along....this might be different if its a dog that doesn' t like cats as the dog might kill the cat....but the worst my dog got was a scratch on his nose....they now cuddle up on the same doggie bed even though princess has her own.

Don't force it. Your cat will let the puppy know it's boundries. And it they do start to fight (the puppy will think it's play) remove the pup and pay special attention to your cat (if he lets you).
Animals naturally belong in packs - even cats. Just let them figure out on their own where they fit.

you should just keep the cat away from the dog
keep the cat in one room and the dog in the other
or you could get gates for most of the rooms
