God wants women to dress respectfully. Wear clothing that cover properly and not show so much skin, for that is the dress of a harlot. He does not want make up on their faces where they look like Tammy Fay Baker, for again that is the look of a harlot.
Women can cover up and still look like a lady and beautiful without wearing too much make up and not enough clothes.

It's my belief that Jesus does not care how you dress. HOWEVER, if what you wear is causing somebody else to stumble well.... Read Romans 14. Lets face it, the more revealing or even tight fitting clothes a female wears, the more a male will sin (lust). I believe we should conduct ourselves as befitting women of Christ.

You are correct, in I Pet 3 you find where God speaks about the outward appearance and how we should dress and behave. The church at times emulate the world and thus we look just like the world there is no difference. The world sees this and they know that we are being hypocrites, if we were following these rules the world would see a difference and many more might have come to the faith.

You seem to want to answer your own question. Isn't this really a declaratory statement?
Christians have gone back and forth on this issue, what we would consider "humble" and "demure" today would be tantamount to Satanism sixty years ago, so how do you define such a subjective matter as modesty?
You can't. Moreover, to imply that there should be some rigid guidelines suggests the sort of reglaments that make other religions oppressive towards women.

Stop being such a prude and put on a bikini.
Why don't you all wear burkhas while you're at it? That way if a man sees one of your ankles you can be stoned to death. Yes, let's live like the Taliban and limit people's expression and how they dress, that's a brilliant idea.

regrettably, i imagine that maximum youthful Christian women persons do no longer have functionality fashions that reveal real modesty; and added, modesty is infrequently stated through our ministers any extra because it really is a delicate challenge to a pair. we are scared to teach on any challenge that would look "legalistic" even even if it really is taught in the Bible. we do not favor to impose any regulations on our fellow contributors so we do only not factor out something yet love, solidarity, and peace. regrettably, many women folk probably do no longer even do not ignore that the type of component as modesty is a distinctive feature which should be practiced in our gown to boot as in our habit.

Christian women should dress modestly - 1 Tim 2:9, they should examine their motives first for wanting to dress otherwise. It is proper to dress 'provocatively' in private [bedroom] for a married christian woman.
