i agree with everyone else and Say there is no reason that men cannot support their kids. most of the time guys who refuse to pay support also refuse to spend time with there kids. As much as I struggle as a single mom the thing that i missed most was not child support (though it does help) was the fact that my daughter did not have a dad in her life. Money can by a lot but it wont buy a father. Men need to realize that these children that they are having a people and need LOVE and SUPPORT no matter what kind of relationship they do or don't have with the mom. I want to say i also realize that it works both ways and moms can be just as guilty as these crimes.

Fathers resent the child support order because it is made directly to the mother (ex-wife) and not the children. Because of this, some refuse to make the payments because they see it as a form of alimony. However, this is not true. Fathers have to realize that the child left "behind" is still his and he is responsible for that child's well being. They have to think about the emotional turmoil their children are going through and support them every way possible. They have to realize that by paying the child support they are supporting their own flesh and blood. The direct payments are to be used to pay for the vital needs of the children, such as rent, food, and clothes.

Because we live in a society where noone wants to be responsible for their actions. Unfortunately our government enables people to do this. Back in the day, if you didn't work, you didn't eat. Now, you just go on welfare- and these deadbeat dads just don't report income, or work under the table and successfully avoid paying the pittance required by the government to "contribute" towards the cost of their child. If the government started fining these jerks, this wouldn't happen. If welfare was offered for what it was supposed to be used for- getting through a difficult time and enabling moms to get an education and/or job, then people would be forced to sink or swim. But, this will never happen, because the bleeding heart liberals will argue that children will suffer. Noone wants children to suffer, but all of us tax payers are suffering due to the manipulation of losers.

Because they do not want to take responsibilities for their actions.
A lot of them just do not care, and that is so sad.
I have heard of some men not working on purpose, those are the ones that should be made to work, or just dispose of them like they have their children.
Some do not pay just to spite their exes, and yet others do not pay becuase they know the children will never see the money because their mothers will blow it on themselves.
Whatever the reasons, both parents should have to live up to the responsibility that comes with having a child.

you know i owe a lot of child support to one of my kids. I did pay child support for the longest time. I NEVER was able to speak to my daughter and or get pictures of her. which kinda made me mad. my mother passed last year and i visited Cali for the first time in 10 years and i was told I was not aloud to speak to her, her mother the wholr time at the funeral hid her from me. Her excuse is that i am not up to date on my child support and have no buisness talking to her since i am behind
since she was born I now have 5 other kids with the women i am married to now and I cant afford to pay the riddiculous amount the state of california thinks i should pay 750 a month and i am lucky if i can get a job paying 8-10 dollars and hour. the thing that makes me sick is I have friends that pay 20 dollars a month and make way more then me and still default on it.. I doubt this helps you any but since i have more kids now it makes it difficult to pay the amount the courts feel are fair.

That is a great question! Thankfully my first husband paid child support for all three of our kids, but my oldest daughter has only received child support 1 wk and her son is 10. I feel sorry for her because she tries her best to take care of her of her son. The father doesn't come around anymore because he knows she will be after him. He does not hold jobs very long and is hard to find him.

In most cases the fathers feel as though they are giving the money to their ex-wives or girlfriends. Since they are no longer toghether and likely not getting along I am sure it pisses them off to give someone they hate money. They don't think of the kids and what they are depriving them of. At the same time, some people just don't like kids and no matter what they have other things they feel are more important. That is why you get it garnished when at all possible.

most fathers do not cheat their children out of support. there are only a very small amount,of these some just don't want to know, some do want to have contact and pay but are not allowed and feel bitter, and others don't pay because they have a mental or health problem and do not pay,but the most do.

because they are heartless bastards & could care less about the welfare of their children. my ex pays $200.00 a month for two children - ages 7 & 11 - & resents every penny he sends. He only just began paying in January - had never paid so much as a penny prior to that. $200.00 doesn't even cover the cost of their health insurance monthly (which I provide). And he constantly tells the children he's broke because he has to send me my "welfare check". The courts don't enforce it hard enough & the method of determining payment needs to be re-vamped. No way should he be paying such a paltry sum when he CLEARS $31,200.00 yearly.

Because they can my baby's daddy is an illegal immigrant wasn't always but ever since he's payed off the books and doesn't have to give me anything legally the government can't force him and now he's in jail for drinking and driving and other stuff connected to it and he really can't pay now. I don't expect to ever see child support so I just have to pray and make due and thank goodness I have my family's help.
