Despite the severe nursing shortage ALL campus based nursing schools are having to either put prospective students on long waiting lists or turning away qualified applicants because they just don't have enough nurse educators, classroom space, and the facilities to handle the demand. It's been happening for several years now. I wouldn't doubt that the Univ. of Virginia School of Nursing would be as good as any other to get your RN to BSN degree but can you get in? How long until you could start classes IF you can get in? Can you afford to go back to nursing school full time and lose the income from your present nursing job?

Thousands of nurses are turning to accredited online nursing schools for the very reasons I stated above, and why not? There are accelerated online RN to BSN programs that allow you to start immediately with NO waiting, you get to do your coursework at your own pace, on your own schedule, and from wherever you like (at work or at home) with no campus parking to worry about, and in most cases employers have tuition reimbursement plans to pay for your education so why not keep your paycheck AND get your BSN degree?
