Well, I have 2 dogs that decided one day to teach mom a lesson for leaving them home. We were between grocery trips so I had dry groceries still on the table, one item happened to be a brand new bag of sugar. When we came home the 2nd time, the sugar bag was on the floor and the dogs had partied down on it. All I had was an empty, torn sugar sack. The next morning, both dogs were sick to their stomachs and I had quite a few messes to clean up. My advice would be to keep your dog or puppy sugar free. For a treat, let him/her have a raw baby carrot.

Depending on why you asked this question, really.
If you have a small breed dog, such as a Chi, Yorkie, Pom...etc. A teaspoon(for a large bowl) of honey or sugar in their water, will stop them from having seizures(until a year old) which small dogs are prone to having. If you are just giving your dog sweet snacks, then you are risking your dogs health and their teeth. And, as the person stated earlier, never give your dogs Chocolate or Onions, this is poison to their systems. I have seen dogs die over "just one M&M"
So be careful what you give your pets. If in doubt, call a vet and dont be afraid to ask them questions. They wont charge you for a phone call.

I really do not know, I have NEVER given any of my dogs sugar. Call the vet and ask them, I am sure they will know the right answer.

well...i know it's not good for any animal to have sugar or chocolate... but it could make them diabetic, and it gives them diarreaha. It's because they can't digest the sugars and caffine. I would deffinately call your vet or bring the puppy or dog in for an appointment. I sincerely hope nothing goesor is wrong with him/her!!

I wouldn't recommend feeding sugar to a dog even once in a while.
