Have shaved it off, but it grows back fast. Also, this results in frequent nicks and cuts. Electrolosis seems unnecessarily harsh. Are there effective products avilable?

Where do you live?If you want it gone forever Electrolysis and/or Laser is the only way. I would recommend that you go for Laser hair removal first. Do about 6 to 10 sessions and then what ever is left have electrolysis. You may need a short electrolysis appointment once a year for new hairs as maintenance from then on. That's the best way to do it. pulling them out can cause distortion in the hair follicle and can then cause an ingrown hair. That's very painful in the ear area. Then you really have a problem.

Use an electric trimmer for the outside, and for the inside, they have really nifty electric razors that you just poke inside and it cleans it up nice! (they are also used for nose hairs, but I'd suggest buying one for each purpose)

They make these little "shavers" for ear hair, I think you can get it at Wal-Mart. It works good for my husband, you may try that.

Btw, anytime you shave something, it will make it grow faster, darker, and thicker.
