Yes, it is. We as humans are members of the animal kingdom, and all animals have an innate urge to reproduce. Everyone -- well, except asexual people -- has a sex drive whether they admit it or not. So yes, it is unnatural. One assumes that a woman who decides to become a nun would have grown up Catholic and followed the doctrine closely, which means she wouldn't have sex until marriage. Then when she became a nun she gave up the idea of marriage altogether. And no one in the church is supposed to masturbate... you are actually required not to masturbate for three years before entering a religous order. So the laws of the church condemning a woman to a life devoid of sexual pleasure is indeed against nature!

I think that different people have different levels of need and want for sex and it's pointless to make judgements about that.
As for celibacy for religious reasons, well, I must admit I don't understand that, not for priests or nuns or anyone else. In the case of nuns, however, I will say that having children really takes a LOT of a mother's time and perhaps nuns want to be free of the responsibilities of child-raising in order to concentrate on other things that they consider to be God's work. I once read that the convent offered women the opportunity to become educated and to work in a career when doing so as a married woman was impossible and I can really understand that was the case.
But in modern times? That I don't so easily understand.

Yes, you are quite right. The whole concept of monastic life and abstinence from sex is against the Laws of Nature. No surprise then that most nuns and monks are usually miserable, grumpy and envious of normal people.
And one does not need to be married to have sex. Marriage is in itself an imposed set of rules by which churches and states wish to control their people and their behaviour.
Sex is natural, as growth and death, light and darkness, air and water. We should celebrate it and enjoy it, responsibly and with dignity. And we do not need organised religions that tell us not to have sex.

Although sex has been created by God it has been perverted by man into lust. To differentiate between the two is hard for some people. Some people are called to a celibate life (Apostle Paul) and did awesome works for God. If Paul was a family man, he would have had to take care of his own family first. By being celibate, he was able to further the gospel without hindrance.

Yup, that is right, didn't having sex in a right way (marriage) is against nature, so that is way Islam came to this world to correct that system. There is no forbidden in Islam about having sex, as long as it is in the right and legal way.
And forbidden for nuns or preacher or pope to have sex is nonsense. In fact, in Islam, having sex can be the way to get close to God, but remember, did that in a right way and legal.

It's not as though they become a nun and then are told "Now you can't have sex! Mwahahaha!!!" They choose that path. So do priests and other members of the clergy.
Think about it: If you are sexually active, where does your mind tend to wander?
Also, if we were to follow the "be natural" logic, then people like me, who are waiting until marriage, are unnatural to.
Making the decision to have sex or not is also natural.

well nice question. what u feel maybe right, but u have to look on the otherside. Everyone cant control their natural feelings. Its too hard to control our soul and mind and to concentrate towards god. Since they control their real personal feelings than a normal human being they are praised next to god and they are said to be close to God.

Celebacy is one way for them to show their devotion to God and to keep themselves whole.
When you have sexual relations with someone you trade parts of yourself. And in this way you become one flesh.
Also, abstaining from human desires has always been part of CHRISTian spirituality. It is common to go into prayer and *fasting* when you reach difficult situations or you want a breakthrough from God. So abstaining from sex is spiritual in the same manner.
However, celebacy is not a requirement for righteousness just as much as fasting is not a requirement. But should we condemn those who do? No, we should encourage them because they do it for God.
Hope this helps.

I am a christian, and I have to agree with you. I personally don't think God calls women to lives of celibacy, but then I think the same is true for men too. I think God does call men to become pastors or preachers.
