FYI does mean "For your information" and when used in the subject line or signature of an e-mail, it indicates that no reply is needed.

FYI means "for your information" and is usually meant not as a cut down or a rude comment, but a heads up to what is actually going on. For example if your brother walked in with some girl and your sister exclaimed "FYI this is the new happy boyfriend and girlfriend everyone!!!" at dinner...Hope this helps
