RED LIGHT GREEN LIGHT ONE TWO THREE.
it is a great outdoor game, one person is on one side of the yard all the kids are on the other side in a line. the single person says "RED, LIGHT GREEN LIGHT ONE TWO THREE" (THEY ARE NOT FACING THE OTHER KIDS AT THIS TIME THERE BACK IS TO THEM) after they say "three" they turn around and every one else has to freeze. anyone caught moving is out. the goal is for one kid to touch the screamer on the sholder with out getting caught moving.
To spice it up for the summer have a sprinkler going, depending how many kids are playing you can have a person hosing the group. Theres lots you can do with this game. Have fun

My kids loved being out at dark. So we played hide and seek in the dark in the back yard. Only rule was you could NOT leave the yard. We all had flash lights and simply played hide and seek. Everyone hid while 1 (or 2 if the little one was scared)looked for you. It also kept them from vegging in front of the TV. They still talk about how fun it was at night. Anything to make the kids laugh and enjoy life.

My siblings and I played Murder in the Midnight. At night, in a large room, someone is chosen to be the "murderer." He or she turns off the lights and everyone else tries to avoid being grabbed by the murderer, when he or she touches or grabs another contestant that person becomes the new murderer and the lights are turned on briefly and the game continues as long as the kids desire. Thrilling fun.

for rainny days, take a sleeping bag that has a silky side and slide go sledding down the stairs. Or if it is nice out and you have a decent size concrete porch, put some soap and water on it and go skating

I liked playing 4 square. You draw 4 squares big enough to stand in and enough room for the ball to bounce in, then you bounce the ball to each other. The way we played is if you let the ball bounce more than once or it went out of the square you were out.
