The average American diet relies too heavily on grain products. I would recommend cutting down, and possibly eliminating them completely. I know this is hard, it was for me, especially at breakfast. Start by eating healthier breads and cereals. I love Ezekial bread, it is a sprouted grain bread, available at health food stores, and some grocery stores. Put it in the toaster, it is delicious and crunchy, and much healthier than regular bread. AkMak crackers are higher in fiber, and taste great. For pasta, try artichoke pasta, or whole grain. Barilla makes a new whole grain pasta that even my children love.
To lose weight the healthy way, cut down on grains, add more raw fruits and vegetables to your diet, and quality fats. Quality fats include olive oil, nuts and seeds. Walnuts are delicious and high in Omega 3's, very important for overall health. Of course, exercise is important, and don't forget quality protein. Eliminate as much processed food as you can, eat organic when possible.
Good luck and God bless!

You really no matter what want to avoid over processed white breads, rice etc. You want dense brown rice and breads. So your body can use those nutrients and your stomach will fill fuller with the dense items. Bread or carbs can be something used in moderation but you might want to pick up the book Turn off the hunger switch by Paul Rivas, M.D. and see if you are carb sensitive or any other option that might assist you in losing weight. You didn't share how over weight you are which may be easier to understand where your at in the process. If it's 5 pounds or 50 makes a difference in how you go about losing weight.

You got it. Refined wheat is very fattening and is in bread, pasta, pizza, strombolis, hoagies, cakes, pancakes, waffles, cookies, donuts , bisquits, crackers, pretzels and cous cous. There are breads made of whole rye (no wheat) and other grains. Amarinth bread is good.
The balanced diet has made obesity (according to Atlantic Monthly magazine) the number 1 health problem in the world soon replacing hunger and infectious disease. So if you need to lose weight it is mostly not your fault. You are a victim of this pandemic (epidemic).
The site below teaches you a whole new way to eat. You learn about quick and slow ways to lose weight, taking off bodyfat and retained water. It tells about anti-water which explains why people tell you to drink a lot of water. Learn everything on that webpage. Do it and you can be thin. Do it not and remain part of the biggest pandemic ever. It is causing the children of Americans to have a lower lifespan than their parents for the first time in 100 years.

Step away from the bread. Do not eat bread at all white flour is so bad for you and wheat bread isn't that good for you either. Try not eating bread for a month and see how much weight you lose. Try eating more fruits and veggies and proteins. Besides those carbs are better for you.

yes, bleached flour, that is in most breads is horrible if you do not want to put weight on. Go for wheat, multi-grain breads, but be careful. always check the ingredients. Some of these breads may contain bleached flour or even worse- high fructose corn syrup. Just read the labels and you will find that you do not have to cut bread completely out of your diet.

Yes. With overweight people, we are carb sensitive.
The more you eat the more you want. I'm not suggesting Atkins or the Zone or any other plan. Try eating lean meats, veggies and fruits, and the first few days you will be DYING for a pastry, pasta, etc...youre addicted, thats why, but with determination, you can break your addiction. Get the natural carbs in fruits and veggies as your source of energy.
Watch Super Size Me, the movie, the thing about it is that McD's isn't the only one that adds extra sugar in order to hook you.

No. Breads are a really good source of carbs, which are your body's main source of fuel. However, if you're dead serious about losing weight and being more healthy, try whole grain breads. They generally have more fiber, less calories, and other health benefits and are quite tasty.

Well it depends on how much bread you eat. If you just eat bread and do nothing, well of course you are gaining weight. get moving and just get some excercise. Walking and standing speeds up the metabolism.

Well, you should do push-ups. They really help to make your stomach flat and skinny, and for the thighs, you should ride a bycicle more often, it helps to strenghten the legs and make thighs skinnier and with a pretty shape. And remember, it's not how much you eat, it's WHAT you eat. So stop eating candy and greasy food and replace them by fruit and vegetables. Run or, excercise in any way you can so that you burn calories and you'll be skinnier in a few weeks.
