yes good idea let all boycott american companies who buy goods from canada to stay in buisness and bring us foods at a price most of us can afford. that way the overall price of seafood can go up among other things thereby raising the cost of living for american citizens while at the same time inflicting major damages on an entire industry and pushing hard working american citizens out of jobs while were at it we should boycott all the cattle ranchers in the world for killing calfs for veal and chicken farmers for selling eggs. come to think of it we should all just become vegetarians and lock up everybody who thinks different. this way the animals can roam free. the end

So you boycott these businesses because they buy seafood from a country that allows an event that you don't care for and isn't even closely relevant to seafood harvesting?
How detached can that be? I could understand if these were Canadian-owned businesses, but come on...
Tactics like this where the desired result is to force compliance indirectly never work... it's too vague.
Instead, boycott someone like Louisville Slugger... or someone DIRECTLY involved with the objective practice.

You are so right! Did you notice that the majority of people that responded to your question; didn't answer it. They instead choose to change the issue. That is what people do when they can't admit what they are doing or (apathy) not doing, is beyond wrong. You can choose to boycott canada, give donations to save the seals organizations, and write to officials to have this hunt banned. How the people who do this hunt can live with themselves is amazing. The lack of empathy and compassion is astounding. Canada needs leaders who stands up for the innocent creatures who have no voice. At least we in America have the guts to protest cruelty. Even some of our politicians have written letters to the leaders in Canada asking them to ban this horrible cruelty. What have your leaders done? Nothing..because it is about greed, power, and not seeing the sacred in anything but themselves.
BOYCOTT, BOYCOTT, and spread the word to everyone you know!

Answer: I don't think that I have EVER seen a country get up and kill something.
OH! You're talking about allowing hunters to cull the herds, ensuring that the animals can survive while we humans are decimating the FISH population that the seals eat.
Hmmmmm. Maybe if we ate less fish, we wouldn't have to kill seals that would otherwise starve to death, or turn to cannibalism as polar bears seem to have.
Do yourself a favor, and check out both sides of the issue before passing judgement.

Why does Canada allow the US to kill people? They consider that just as barbaric.
We really don't have any say over what other countries do, as much as we would like to believe we do.

Why do we allow it? What power do we have over them?
It may bother you, but not all cultures are like our own. For example, isn't there a country that eats St Bernard dogs? Some countries consider it a delicacy to eat cats and monkeys. Yuck.

Because they are a sovereign nation in which we do not have a say as to what laws they pass or what activities they allow to happen within their borders. Unfortunately, too many Americans are forgetting that we are not the moral conscious for the world and therefore do not get to dictate our morals onto their traditions, customs, rights or even wants.

While it would be great if the Canadians didn't hunt seals The U.S shouldn't be the worlds moral barometor or dictator. We also allow Eskimo's to hunt seals and whales in Alaska.

Why do we allow Bush to kill soldiers?
