And where does this saying comes from?
I read this in the "cat" section and there doesn't seem to be any corresponding expression in my own language.

It's just that you can scare a cat easily. If I startle our cat, he'll jump very high in the air. They are frightened easily. So the term "scaredy cat" refers to a person acting like a cat freaking over something. It was probably a childhood saying that went around the world.

Some cats run away at loud noises or situations they don't understand or haven't experienced before. So, a person that is like that is called a scaredy cat or a "fraidy cat"

Have you ever seen a paranoid cat? Did you ever watch looney tunes with Claude? I have a cat that was a stray that I felt sorry for and he's a freak. Very jumpy. So when someone says, "scaredy cat" they mean your acting like that.
