Wedding favors are not just gifts that are going to be thrown away..they add to the overall design and decor of the room and can actually cut back on costs. I have been to many receptions where the favors are grouped to make a centerpiece and each guest takes one home at the end. It's also a good way for the couple to represent their own personal style. Think outside the box. For example: My friends got married and they are both bartenders. For their reception they had a make your own martini bar (very inexpensive). The guest favors were martini glasses painted in a simple polka dot pattern with a marini recipe tied to the base along with their name and date. They got the glasses from a restaurant supply co. so that cut back on the glassware they would normally have to rent. They saved on not having a bar, not having to rent glasses, and using them as favors. We use our glasses all the time and it remids us of how much fun we had. There are a lot of things that you can make....be creative.

I had a lot of favors because my mother-in-law loves to be creative and make stuff. I had bought mints with our names & wedding date and also bubbles. Then she made these white sticks with a bell and some ribbon attached to the end (the ribbon was wound around the stick all the way to the end). Also she took 2 of the little fake rings you can buy (the ones that come in bulk at the wedding/party stores) and she looped ribbon through them & glued the ends together. All of these turned out great & the guests loved them.

Usually when I'm weeding, favors are not involved.
However, if you mean wedding favors.... when my daughter got married, we did not have favors for the guests. The wedding/reception was very simple and we chose not to do it. I don't know where that custom started, (just like giving goodies bags to kids who come to birthday parties) but it just seems funny that we now feel that we have to 'reward' people for coming to a function.

I bought some tule and ribbon in the wedding colors and wrapped 4 Hershey Kisses into a nice bundle to place at each plate.

I like the idea of mini terracotta pots with seeds so the guests can grow flowers, they do seeds embedded into heart shape paper, you plant the paper and the seeds grow from there. Not only are they wedding favours, they could also turn into weeding favours as well

We found this beautiful store in Windosr, On. (little Italy area) that makes them up for you. For our shower we did ice cream scoopers. For our wedding we did coasters because they had fall leaves on them and it matched our theme.
Try to pick something people will use. That was always my thing. I have been given lots of little trinkets and the person is right you usually end up throwing them away.

I was at a Vegas-themed wedding, and they gave out a deck of cards from the casinos and chips that had their names on it. It was cute too because each table was named after a different hotel. I sat at Stratosphere!

Edibles! Anything chocolate or chocolate related goes well. I had chocolates at my wedding reception and people loved them. Plus we didn't have any left behind.
