I think that your kids are in very advanced stage of mind. We lived in past where there was no computer no TV or Radio. Whereas our kids are living in the present age where too much advancements have taken place and their mental levels are also very much higher than us. In nut shell I can say that it is a generation gap which causes our kids to think that they are smarter than us.

Every child belives they are smarter than their parents as a general rule. It is a part of growing up. The brain is not fully developed and what we call common sense is not fully developed especially in the male child. By the age of 21 the attitude is usually on the decline.

It's not that they think they are smarter than you, but that they attend school everyday, for educational purposes, and if their school is doing their job, then that leaves the child with a stronger sence of acomplishment that sends him or her home everyday to share with the smartest people they know, their parents, so dont be anooyed or stubborn when children present you with such challenges of knowledge, for there is no point in knowing everything if you cant share it with anyone.

They are, it's called evolution.
Not in my case however, due to my rather large IQ they would have to be one of the very few 'exceptionally gifted' part of the world's population.
That and I don't have any kids, so they can't be smarter than me anyway =)

Mark Twain probably put it best, he said, "when I was 17, I thought my father was the dumbest person around, when I turned 21, I was surprised how much dad had learned in 4 years"

In some things they are...but generally it's because they haven't experienced the many pitfalls of real life and are unable to consider those factors in their decision making.

Point: If they were to write the same question as you did, would they use the word "than" rather than "then"? If so, then they may be.
