I'm sorry to hear this. It's suppose to be "Freedom OF religion", not "Freedom FROM religion". Unfortunately, your religion has so many negative thoughts that have been portrayed on it through the centuries from other religions, and because this hatred and lies have been passed on, people today still continue to believe that. But wiccan and pagan aren't the only religions being discriminated against at the moment. The higher courts and law makers have taken a strong hatred for Christian also. Look at the rulings from the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals and you will see that basically all religions, except Muslim right now are being discriminated against. And it's not just the religion itself. Anything having to do with religious symbols, whether they are are buildings or landmarks are being targeted by atheists as "offensive". I wonder how many of these people who are constantly offended have done their research. Many of the symbols carved into buildings and such go back centuries. And alot of contributions are from the Knights Templar, Free Masons, and Druid from the Celtics(also known as Pagan). Personally, I'm tired of everyone being offended by every little thing and deciding they have to sue and have momuments and such be removed just so they can be happy. You are free to worship whomever you choose, and it should stay that way. I may not agree with your beliefs and you may not agree with mine, but that doesn't mean we can't have a calm discussion, an actual debate on the subject, and agree to politely disagree. Oh.. and my Fiance is Pagan...... (and please excuse the spelling errors if any, the spellcheck is having issues... )

Many years ago when I was younger I found more discrimination because of my beliefs than I do now. I lived with the usual name calling, the constant conversion attempts and the avoidance of people. However, as I have gotten older I find less of that. Perhaps some of the reasoning behind that is greater education in the area in which I live but I mostly think that it is because my family whom are Christians of various denominations accept me as I am so others feel they can too. Also, I am also married to a Christian who accepts and respects my right to believe as I will.
I certainly hope your path becomes easier.
Blessed Be.

Maybe. I have a pretty thick skin, so I don't pay much attention. A couple of incidences stick in my head, but we all laughed about them, didn't scream discrimination.
1. We were all going to the zoo (we took the zoo on as one of our causes) and we were meeting at the butterfly house and as we, my mate and my children, went to enter the butterfly house one of the volunteers stopped us and told us that maybe we should wait because some "unsavory" characters were in there. And I asked what sort of characters, and he said that they were dressed strangely and were wearing "satanic" symbols. "Oh" Said I, "They're with us!" His mouth dropped open as we breezed by him.
2. Every holiday we try to do a charity type thing. So last Beltane we decided to make Maybaskets and give them out to the poor. So we called various charities to see if we could find some poor people to give them to. We called 6, none of them wanted anything to do with us. A certain Islamic charity called us "Infedels" and hung up on us!

I'm an atheist and Christians consider us on the same level as criminals. We are called blind, evil, without rules or virtue, haters of Christ etc. These people follow a 2000-year-old book blindly and condemn us to hell if we are not exactly like them. They have a superiority complex, and are fearful of others' opinion at the same time. (I hope Christians are not offended by my generalising of them during this answer- I am only describing the majority of people I have met). They will refer to the Bible when it favours their lifestyle, and throw it out the window when it does not. Just always remember to hold your head up high, knowing that you are a lot stronger in your faith than these so-called enlightened ones.

Yes i have been discriminated as a Pagan. not just on YA but offline too. I was at work and a lady dropped some christian card in the waiting room. someone picked it up and said i think this was left for you. I got it and i was furious. she was trying to convert me to christianity. well i was really angry so a week later I called her up. Big mistake! She got offended and threatened to sue.Her husband happened to be some big shot lawyer. Well needless to say my boss was cool about it at first she was angry. but it whould have been religious discrimination in this case.

Yes...and when I was Jewish I was discrimanted for being that too....Everyone believe that pagans are "evil" or "devil worshippers"....Or some such thing...It's really frustrating. No one seems to care that these are your beliefs, and they should not question them or try to convert you to "their way". I mean, come on?! Do we stand on street corners, come into THEIR offices and knock on THEIR houses?! They should actually do some research before discriminating against others....grr!

I haven't been descriminated against for being a wiccan or pagan, because I'm not one. I have however been descriminated against for being a Catholic. From my experience, they are your beliefs and belief is more personal. They may discriminate if they do not fully understand your beliefs or fear it. All you have to do, if really strong in your beleif, is just ignore them. You gotta do what you gotta do, and standing up for your beliefs shows more strength than they could ever show by descriminating against someone.

My wife was discriminated against for being a Christian. Her boss was Muslim and she made the mistake of playing one of her christian cd's. She was fired.
