Humans are also predisposed to fear. Anyone that's been in a war can tell you they were scared as hell at least at first, and still scared or at least very uptight later. People not sharing in the risk, at least psychologically, will always show only the flight reflex. While those in combat or feeling connected to the mission or troops will tend to feel the fight reflex.
I always thought that after 9/11 the US should have rationed certain resources even though it was not strictly necessary, if for no other reason than to generate the WWII shared risk/sacrifice psychology. A lot of good could have been done on gas prices in the process by regulating demand, and it wouldn't be hard to sell on the "reliance on foreign oil" perspective. A draft has more negative effects than positive, but rationing we could have pulled off. Now, even if a super public speaker is elected next, it will be difficult for him to bring the country back on our side.

You see the noisy minority, the silent majority are ignored. Politicians are destroying the world with their need to appease the left wing, tree hugging, mud people. I would vote for a politician who had an intellect. Most have the intellectual agility of a small soap dish. The world will overflow with gene pool slurry before someone does something, without first thinking of voters. I am the silent majority and if i were to become king, Iz would strike dem bulldykes down an iz would resurect some good old boyz an Hanibal da canibal wud bez ma man. If i kept writing for another hour i would make even less sense. what is in this whiskey?

how very right you are.....throughout most of history people have tried to deny natural human nature in the belief that civilized societies have no reason for war when in reality all it does is give more reason for war.....take the indians for example, now dont get me wrong they did have wars however there was no war over land because they firmly believed that no "man" could own something that owned him.............possession is a definite evil and ultimately will probably be the cause of mans downfall on earth...i mean if you think about it land ownership is pretty much the main staple of most wars and has been throughout history.................................i dont care how evolved or civilized we become if we cannot learn to accept that no country needs to own everything and that we should stop pushing our ideals(religion&politics)on other cultures our existance will come to a quick and gruesome demise....

You are correct ! No one wants war, but if it were not for war then history would be completely different from what we know it now. For example we would be speaking German or Japanese, if it were not for our brave Veterans.
Most according to their age are protesting because of the fear of losing their own life, or have lost a loved one in other wars. If you ask a veteran the majority will always tell you they would gladly go back in place of one of our young men or women to spare them the anguish or suffering war causes during the fight and after for the rest of their lives.
Always remember tho that many of your freedoms you enjoy are thanks to those who chose to stand and fight. So if you love your freedom, THANK A VET ! as the bumper sticker says!

I thought your actual question was "How come so many Pacifists and anti-war Ls?" so I'll answer that:
Pacifism and anti-war lobbying is in fact a form of war - you are fighting against people committing acts of war.
Nice little oxymoron, eh? Pacifism = fighting!
