Hi I am a hairstylist-
A perm could structure your natural curly hair
However in my opinion I think perms wreak the hair. I have used many kinds of professional perms and I am not usually happy with th results. I think to answer this question honestly I would have to see your hair in person to really analize the situation and if your hair could even handle a perm. Go see a stylist who specializes in perming- Good Luck

I've got naturally curly hair also, and I used to get perms just so that my curls were more uniform. It took a long time for the perm to go away tho. You better REALLY want one before you get one. The best person to ask that question to is the person who does your hair regularly.

Personally speak from a guy looking at a girl as far as a potential date goes a perm would be a turn off, but not strangely natural loose curls or the natural curls (on wnant of a better phrase) on affro caribean girls.
to sum up straight, loose and medium curls are good tight cirls not so much. but then saying all of that it realy doe depend on the overalll girls look, face, body shape and hair as to what looks good to ME at least.
But at the end of the day you have to do what YOU want to do. If you want to try a perm do so see how it looks on you, there is software available or there used to be that allows/ allowed you to try on different hairstyles digitaly before you get the hairdresser to do anything to you. consult a reputable salon to see if they offer that type of service. Alternatively find a picture of a hairstyle you want to try, then get a recent picture of you now crop the picture in a good editing package like adobe photoshop or photoshop elements. now you cn merge the two images together to see what you would look like.

A perm is not the only solution. If you want to straighten your hair, there are flat irons available that can straighten your hair. Once you train your hair, it will become more uniform and straight. I would suggest that you go to a stylist so that she/he can discuss in detail the PROS and CONS of getting a permanent.

Well it really depends on the persons figure because my mom recently got a perm and she looks way better then she was before but it really depends on the person!

a qualifed hairdresser would be the best person to ask. when you get a perm you are damaging your hair. make sure you get all the facts first.
