I had a friend with same problem. He cut out all fast food, ate a lot of oatmeal, reduced his salt intake, ate beef only once a week, ate chicken & fish the rest of the week usually baked without extra oils & butters. Increased his veggies & fruit to several a day. Cut out all pop including diet, drank more water. And took a 15 min. walk everyday. His cholesterol went from 250 to 170 in a month. His blood pressure dropped from 150/90 to 130/80. Good luck!

naturally, first thing would be to change your diet if it is a high calorie/fatty diet. Of course there is also excersize, but dont push your body to hard in the beginning if you dont excersize much as of now. Also, dont change the diet abruptly as it might cause more damage then good. Take baby steps and gradually shift into a healthier style of eating, and if this is a condition that runs throughout the family, maybe the doctors can perscribe something in a form of medication to help out as well.

My uncle was told by his doctor that he was overweight, had high colesterol, and had high blood pressure.. The doctor put him on medicine, and told him that he needed to be on a strict diet, and had to exercise. Once he changed his diet, and began to exercise more, he became much healthier. Good luck with everything..

One of my friends developed high cholesterol just from eating a couple of bars of chocolate a day, with an otherwise healthy diet. Your doctor ought to be able to give you a list of what other foods to avoid.

I wouldn't take a chance, I would see a doctor. Then you could go from there as far as what treatment you would like to do.
