People see a quiet/shy person as stuck on themselves for a myraid of reasons.
It is a common misconception that just because you are quiet you are stuck up.
And we all know that 9 times out of 10 that is not the case.

Because we don't conform to society's perception of *how* to be. Besides, from their viewpoint, how can they tell the reason why a person is standoffish? It's easier to lump all quiet and reserved people into the "rude and self-centered" pile. Getting to know someone is too much work (for some people). Seriously, I think some people think we are rejecting them when we don't actively engage relationships.

coz usually wen one is shy n mixes in a crowd, wen ppl tok 2 u, u tend to onli reply to the ques n nt ask abt their life. Thus they may be thought as self centred. Ppl may think that that person onli wan to tok abt their life.

I must say that some people think like that but not every one. I take it you are shy then. I used to be shy but now I just dont mind what people think of me so I be myself and if they dont like it then its their problem not mine. Confidence is what some shy people need.

because they dont strike up conversations and they expect people to come over and be nice to them . and they are just optomistic that's all . not all people are like that though(that's what the un-shy people think of they shy)
