Yes, they are allowed to. Whether or not the footage is of a quality sufficient for using as evidence is another matter. But any camera can be used to gather evidence. We've used cameras from ATMs also that gather information about people who pass by.

City streets are public areas. In any public area there should be no expectation of privacy so the answer is "yes" video systems in public places can be used as evidence and in court to prosecute. Our police department has been putting cameras up at intersections and "busy" locations for that very purpose.

Depends on the jurisdiction, but usually, yeah. If the images captured are of a public place( like a street), and of sufficient resolution to provide a clear identification, sure, they are allowable as evidence.

For running a light or speeding ticket...yep! The camera takes 2 pics, one of ur license plate and one of the driver.
I personally have a reflecive license plate cover.

yes Thar are there for a reason and if they saw a fight brake out the camera has evidence it can be used to a court of law
