Well I think it just depends. You really should not go by everything you read. Are you concerned with your child being over or under weight??
My 4 yr old daughter weights 42lbs, and at the end of May was right at 3 ft. She also is very stocky and is wearing sz 6 clothing. I was very concerned, because we very rarely eat fast food or junk. Went to the doctor and he laughed at me he told me she was perfectly healthy and just like always she is in the upper 90%. He also told me that she will start shooting up and in the last month she has grown like 2 in. It is absolutely crazy. So don't worry about it. I am sure that your child is fine, as long as they are growing socially, and mentally, that is the important thing for now.

About 2' to 2 1/2' and weight 30 to 45 pounds it all depends on the child's frame.

I was told my son was just over average on both height and weight,

My step-daughter is 4, will be 5 in September. She is 38 inches tall and 36 lbs. Compared to the girls her age in her neighborhood, she's a little smaller. If you are really concerned, you could take her to a peditrician.

Umm I'm not quite sure my daughter is 4 and she is 40' and weighs 35lbs, however she is smaller than all the other 4 year olds. Hope this helps.
